(Aug 18 NZT) One-hour Cut-throat Event

Never played an action rpg pvp so this was my first time.(my pvp experience goes back to daoc classic just you know)

And it was as expected. If i would chose to play pvp there are a few things that is a no-go for me personal. That is lose of items and xp. Because alone of that poe pvp is nothing for me.

Certainly it´s fun for many of the players but not for me personal. Just wanted to share my qq. Have fun and good luck all^^
What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything:
A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
What am i?

Kripp chased me around the ledge for like 30 seconds or so before i was like damn he his hard! so I left. OH well, shadow sucks for these cut throat and now i know.

Yah I saw that on Kripp's stream :) Good thing you could run a bit faster!

Someone on Kripp's stream made a great suggestion:

Having a kill/death record for your player and displaying it on the screen!

Would also be a cool thing to have displayed in the ladder rankings for cutthroat as well.

I ran into the same things that others have already stated. I started about half an hour in with a Duelist and just kept running into groups of several Freezing Pulse casters and/or archers with Bear Trap that were stalking Terraces. Even running away is very difficult with the five second delay on portals.

Maybe add some sort of level and group limitations for joining instances?

The tears, they begin to flow.
I really don't understand why you guys are crying 'unfair, stop camping, level cap needed'.

This is what makes this league super fun.
The fact that its a hour crazy gank fest is what makes it exciting and without that ridiculous setup, it won't last.

Pro tips:
Group up - obviously, solo play will get you ganked. (maybe add a buff so when you're out numbered, you get X% more dmg/life, I'd prefer this over a flat out level cap).

Always keep map open - often we'd get right next to other groups before they realized we weren't friends.

Gear - pfft, who needs it, acquire loot from ganking!

PvE 90%, pvp 10% - its a gank fest, not level fest, that method 'works' to some extent.
But when a lvl 12/13? tried to gank our squad of 6(level 7-10), it didn't end too well for him.

With all that being said, I know not everyone can be in a group with solid players using voip to pwn.
Can't really say much to help/change that, other than public parties are better than no parties.

Remember, everything is subject to change.
Savour these moments of glorious broken pvp, for they will make you stronger.
The open beta players shall fall when they enter the realm

I must say : I hope they dont change a single thing about this, it is supposted to be hardcore , hard, unfair, whatever you call it. I hate to be extremist, but if you cant keep up to it, just dont play that league.
You guys have to understand that in a permanent league, higher levels wont spent their time in low level zones when they could be leveling and looting !

Sadly I've found out rather quickly that this event is probably not for me too.

In the interest of feedback:

-Starting too late in the event, you may as well just stay in the camp and watch the player list.
:Level 2, went out, level 7 jumps in and 1 shots me.
Not really sure how to avoid something like that.

Sorry my bad, I didn't know I wasn't supposed to bring bad feedback.

That's all I got, I didn't play it very long.
Like I said got into the event way too late. Was over before I really got anywhere.

I have no doubt that it's a blast if you get in at the start of the event though.

I read what he wrote and he was giving you advice and you just take offence from this. Well, i can say that the 1 hr TEST cutthroat league is not for you.
No food in fridge... Beer it is.

Absolutely ^this!

Not to mention, a high level solo player can easily get jumped by 11 people working together and get killed.

I Slept through this event (02:00) but I have taken part in every other "Cut throat" event we have had so far. The mechanics of the event really do make it a LOT of fun.

I would LOVE the balancing to change to the effect that a "Naked" character (With good skill) could actually kill a character that is several levels higher than him that has gear. Actually make it so that a character is unable to kill the same character twice for 10 minutes. He can kill you even bare handed - that would make campers leave areas to go look for new targets.

Reading that Traps are now being used saddens me a bit. But they are in the game so I guess we just have to learn to play around them like all the other aspects.

I have requested this many times before: /myladder - Please implement it as soon as possible for all the events. And for Cut-throat we specifically need a kill counter. We already have /deaths. But an overlay counter would be awesome.

I far prefer the short cut-throat events. They are high stress events and should not be dragged out over longer periods. BUT we do need more of them.

Damn I keep thinking of more to write and I wanted this to be short - sorry :(

Lol - I forgot what I was thinking - Oh yes Please give us a few events where we all start as level 30 on Cruel Beach, Level 40 on Ruthless Beach and Level 50 on Merciless. Taking a few minutes to select your Passives should make for really interesting races. mmm These characters should not be transferred to the standard default/hardcore league at the end. Their stash can be but the characters must be deleted.

And Colin has finally run out of wind - enjoy your weekend you fellow addicts :)

I'm BACK :)
With the current setup of this event, if you die once then your game is over essentially, so if you want people to keep playing after the first death, then make some changes. Changes like having 1 safe area to get new gear, not allowing certain levels to enter certain areas and preventing people being killed by the same person or group the whole time(essentially griefing).

If players who have died could manage to gear up again and fight back, then you will see a more enjoyable event in my opinion.

I don't see why people feel the unfairness is fine. There are ways to make the event fair for everyone and still have the same thrill of PvP.
Haven't actually gotten a chance to play in any of these, but wouldn't it make more sense, if there were a score counter, for it to be 'Gained exp from player kills'? This kind of ranking would encourage going after more than you can chew for bigger rewards and discourage solely pve rushing or camping low level areas. Just an idea I had that I thought was an elegant solution to a few problems.
