Diamond Flask interaction with Spell Totems

That said if you pop a Divination Distillate and cast a totem (assuming the flask is active) I'm guessing you get the extra rarity/quantity for the totem, does the totem lose the bonus if the flask stops working?
The totem never gets any bonus from the flask - that flask only ever affects you. When the totem kills something with your skill, that kill is assigned to you, and if you have the bonus from the flask at that point, then the extra drop bonus will apply, but at no time does the flask have any affect on the totem, only on you.

from my understanding even if the caster loses power charges the totem keeps the extra crit chance
No, That is not the case. The totem is using your skill. While you have power charges, you have increased crit chance, which applies to your skill. While you have no charges, you have no bonus crit. Any time the totem uses your skill, it is using your skill as that skill exists at that time.
That's what people mean when they say snapshotting, which is what is getting you confused. When you're using a totem, simply pretend at all times it's as if you are casting the spell with your current spell effecting stats in play.

As for the other question someone asked, totems are not immune to status effects. You can see this clearly by using freeze on a totem, it will indeed freeze, chill, burn, get shocked, and even get stunned or knocked back.

Thanks for clearing that up, this all makes sense to me now.

This was the part I was misunderstanding thanks for clearing that up.
Thanks Mark_GGG for taking some time to fully clear these questions :)
