Item Data. Armor/weapons. Unique skins all the way up.

Can we donate art assets? if so, what format should they be in? I know there are some good modelers out there that would donate their time and resources in order to diversify the models that are available.
Its a really good suggestion, Hope Eric see your post here. Dont know if u can send a Pm.
I would also like this very much! To me, a BIG part of the fun of farming items is how your character looks with your new kick ass item. In Diablo for example it's so kick ass to see your Wizard running around with a big ass glowing sword when you've finally found one who is better than a wand. Or making your barbarian look like a ridiculous super saiyan 5 :D.
i think atm that this features is the one unique feature who is really lacking in POE.

having better looking item, and armor is an important part of a working arpg.

hope they ll add through patch new glowing weapon, and good looking armor actually it seems much more like placeholder than fished items art..

As Erik said in his earlier post, eventually this will be done and I cannot wait for it. I'm sure extra things will be in the point shop as well.

Once of the biggest disappointments in this game so far is the skin of Midnight Bargain. I saw it and immediately fell in love with the look, but was let down when I finally equipped it. Looked just like an Engraved Wand.

While the visual's of gear is a let down, it will be changed in the future and that's enough for me to overlook the issue presently. Once they do come out, either in game or through the point shop, it will be amazing.

Something from me.
More and different items skins always is better idea, but here is one thing. In the most game type hack&slash, high lvl items are simply ugly, ridiculous and too fantasy, i hope GGG keeep their style. By the way, in end game stage could be nice make available low lvl skins too. Maybe it will be good, let player find or craft armor which is nice looking for him. For now, im slightly sad, because for example, in high lvl armors i cant find skins like Scale Vest, Shabby Jerkin, Padded Vest (or even Plate Vest:P ) its not big deal, but later will be nice to find in end game good items with low lvl look.

Secong thing, colors depending on properties in my opinion could be not good idea, in most causes it looks unrealistic, comic and ugly. In game this type, i hate moment when i have realy good item who is yellow, green, pink or is glowing.

Make characters look unique(we all see those 2d unique items that looks so awesome)
We already have a lot of items but make them have at least 2different looks. Same item different looks

agree with webas, nice idea:)

that was my small opinion:P

wholeheartedly agree. no colors dripping everywhere please!
but getting a slight, subtle change of tone on a sword (think d2)for elem dmg is also pretty cool
I'm just gonna say that overal armors looks not so good in this game. Enviroment is pretty good looking, special effects are also pretty fine... but armors and character visuals... man.

I was showing game to my friend yesterday - i got myself lvl 23 marauder. First thing he asked me after i log in was "why is your character a Zombie?".... i mean srsly lol;

I know time and budget is limited as fuck but i play games like this for two reasons - first is to create a character that roflstomp everything after its farmed up, and second is to look cool while doing it.

I must say that even at low level im happy with the gameplay but visuals of my marauder nearly make me stop playing - whats the point of progression when my character looks awful.
I have to agree with this. The game looks gorgeus, graphics are superb, but the armor and weapons look a bit bland. Watching a HC race, lvl 80 characters look almost exactly like lvl 20, the same generic armor models, and although this won't prevent me from playing the game, I think a lot of players would be more interested in the game if they had this progression of armor design as they progress through the game.

aRPG are not only about having a powerful build, but also looking cool while stomping the mobs.

I don't know how many people here played Dark Souls, but I would say PoE should take some inspiration from DS armour design, as both games have a similar overall design and atmosphere.

Here are a couple of armor examples from Dark Souls:

I know it's a lot of work and resources, and it's planned in the future, but it is a quite important aspect of any aRPG game. Especially for unique items, to have an original and cool model design.
