Awesome to hear some changes are coming soon though - this patch sounds better and better the more I hear about it!

I just wish they would update the website passive skill tree with the 9.11 one so I could play with it before the patch.

Some gem are meant to be rare and need to be farmed outside the wild (mostly support). Those are either very powerful or niche for a certain build.
For example: lesser multiple projectile is offered as a quest reward for ranger and shadow(?) but greater multiple projectile can only drop. Mana/life leach is another example of powerful support.
I cannot agree with any non-quality support not being part of quest rewards. Like the skilltree, gems are what gives this game its fun, its freedom to build the character you want to play.
Having rare gems can easily just work for quality gems or maybe some special unique ones like portal.

Its one problem with this - in 90% of skillgems pumping quality is worthless because bonuses are pathetic.
I also agree that all skill gems should be quest rewards. Maybe counple of strongest (but couple not half) should drops only on max difficulty but thats all.
But to do this GGG must change quality bonus on most gems because atm... /meh.

Actually I love the increased radius from quality aura gems. It gives me a choice of either increasing the aura radius using GCPs or skill points.

Yes but many auras are already a bit weak when playing alone and probably a bit too strong in groups. Having its quality making this difference even bigger is probably not a good idea.
