[1.0.5] Lightning Strike Staff Crit Templar Build - 17k+ DPS - Dual Curse

Nice video and build, thanks for sharing. Will give it a try for sure as it seems interesting with all that crit.
...
Just hit level 70 with this build. I've got decent gear, and a staff only slightly worse than the one Tyronis wields. I'm doing about 9k dps with max resist, and I have a bunch more crit nodes to pick up yet.

Lets be honest though, this build is pretty squishy to high physical damage and/or tight spaces. I checked the video and sure enough, Tyronis' armor is really low like mine. The mechanism for survival on this build is high dps+life leech, which only works when you are hitting mobs. Combine that with areas like Lunaris level 3, and you start having issues. Unfortunately in places like this, ranged mobs can shoot over fences, water, etc. LS projectiles can't.

I still love the build, and plan to continue leveling my guy further. I just want to start some discussion around ways to beef up for those more difficult areas.

Well a start would be to get higher armor on your chest. If my armor is a str armor, my question is where does most of the ES come from, when you get eldritch battery? Also, do any of you use a single target attack besides lightning strike for higher dps?
?
Mephixara // Lvl 91 Phys Tornado Ranger
Tynux // Lvl 86 DW Ground Slam Marauder
Ripheuxa // Lvl 90 KB Wander

I wanted to follow up and respond to jtrand's suggestion:

My current chest has 910 armor. My total armor is 2k unbuffed. I can run determination to get it up to around 3.2k, which gives me about 29% phys reduction. I could definitely do some work to get better armor on other parts of my gear, you are right about that.

To answer your question about eldritch battery, your ES->(Mana) is mostly coming from discipline. For example: I have 712 mana without discipline, but then 1241 with it turned on.
I stick to LS and leapslam for single targets. I can keep my range if the target hits hard, or I can go in for the kill if he is weak. LS gets those shock stacks up so quickly, and crits absolutely destroy rares.
low dps, i have 23k w iir/iiq gloves/boots , 83% all res, 6.5k life.

Rather than being a troll why don't you tell us about your setup?

Alright thanks, that helps me understand the EB thing a lot more. How much accuracy would you say is enough? Also, is weapon ele dmg or flat ele dmg on gear increase dps a lot?

This is the gear that I have for my templar set aside for later (all this was self found from my stash).

Weapon ele dmg adds a fair bit. Ele flat dmg is alright but not as good as flat phys ofc.

And damn - if that staff just had had some extra crit chance!!! Currently trying to find a staff that can match a dagger in terms of dps for my LS templar and then that one would have come close!

This is my current gear, and its working pretty well for this build. I like the fast attack speed because it is fun, but the trade-off is that I find I have to worry a bit more about mana consumption. Ideally I think it would be better to have a slower, heavier-hitting staff, or mana leech on gear, or mana regen rate.
Just out of curiosity - quite a few people seem to be coming in here doing staff LS templars but without kaoms. What's the point then - less dps and a lot less defence...
