GuessMyExploit

Hi there,
I've been looking into ways to exploit the game the most.
This is what I came up with:
GuessMySkills

Can anybody guess, what skills and what weapon I'd use.
BTW: of course it's a class-cannon

Edit: Posted the wrong tree at first

Righterous fire?
what type of exploit?
the burn damage exploit

and no, righterous fire would kill me nearly instantly.

well you had life points not chaos inoculation so..
firestorm?fireball?burning cold?
This has confused me. I'm really interested in it.

I've tried to come up with the right combination of skills to use this tree to best effect but cannot.

The weapon elemental indicates that it should be an on hit. but the elemental equilibrium really is confusing.

My favourite guess so far was Infernal blow and elemental proliferation. Which looks like it could be really fun. But the elemental equilibrium would be a disadvantage.

Not really sure.
WELL DON'T KEEP US WAITING!

I'm guessing either burning arrow + elem. prolif or wand + power siphon, for burning crits (also elem. prolif?)

I really don't understand the elemental equiblium though... unless you're using a nova or something then burning.
My guess is molten shell + ice/shock nova. Keep ice novaing untill molten shell pops and kills everything and burns whats left alive

edit: weapon is the burning touch, unique staff

ok im close but missing one piece...

1. you use a bow to hit for cold and lightning

2. then you use burning arrow to apply burn (probably plus chance to ignite)

3. Then the cold/lightning attack to lower the burn resist while it ticks away.

not sure on the skill for the cold lightning attack. could be lightning arrow, a cold/lightning bow with split arrow, could even be frost nova with +lightning (but I think its a bow skill)
Hey guys,
I'm happy to see that I got some peoples attention.
Necessitysslave and llama were already pretty close to the solution, but you didn't mention the twist. So here's the break down.

I use:
Burning Arrow+Ignite+Add Fire+Add Weapon Elem+Elem Proliferation
Auras:
Anger+Wrath+Hatred (at least)
and as support:
Elemental Weakness and a spell with cold and lightning damage (best should be ice spear+lightning+totem+gmp+smp+pierce, but a cold snap+lightning should also work fine)

The expoit:
negative resistance has a quadratic effect on burn damage. i.e. resistances are checked on the hit, determining the burn damage, and than while burning AGAIN! Effectively, that means the burn damage is muliplied by (100%-res)^2

The twist about Elemental Equilibrium is that hitting with all three elements does NOT remove previous EE buffs. That means, I hit them once with my support spell to lower fire res by 50% and further by 40% with Elem. Weak. Then I have 5 seconds (by default) to ignite the target and burn reeeally quickly.

I don'T have more time right now, but I'll post an example with the damage calculation.

Okay, I'm back.
I suddenly see a bunch of posts about burn duration and elemental equilibrium. So, I wanna be the first to do the calculation for the burnin arrow. Nice and easy, step by step and if you find any errors, please tell me. I puzzled this all together from a lot of different posts and some things are still not clear to me. However, I will only on information that has been confirmed so far elsewere (if stuff got patched after the confirmation, then too bad for me).

So here we go. Firstly, the important stats:
+82% fire damage (FD)
+80% burn damage (BD)
+141% Weapon fire damage (WED,this includes std weapon ele. dam.!)
+18% general ele. dam. (ED)
+30% burn duration
+45% buff/debuff duration (I dont know if this applies to burn, therefore I will not consider it for now)
and finally
Elemental weakness (EW) + Elemental Equilibrium (EE) sum up to about -90% fire res.

Basics:
If I do 100 fire damage and ignite, it will burn for 1/3 of that damage per second for some time (4 seconds by default, I have 30% increase, so let's just say 5s).
So 100 results in 100+33*5. Easy!

Now apply all the fire damages to that 100:
100*(1+2.41) = 341
This will burn for additional 114*5 damage.
With 80% burn damage that's 205*5.

And now the mindblowing part after regarding resistances.
The actual damage dealt is 1-('monster res'-EW-EE) of the original damage. For clarity, lets just say it had no resistance at all than this damge multipyler becomes 1.9.

Now what does that mean for the burning arrow that was already OP with 341+205*5 damage?

The initial hit becomes
341*1.9 = 648
one third is deals as burn damage per second (increased by BD 80%):
648/3 * 1.8 = 389
AND THAT IS AGAIN CHECKED AGAINST RESISTANCES!
So the final damage is something like:
648+739*5 = 4341

I should have to mention that achieving 100 fire damage with burning arrow, added fire damge, added elemental weapon damage, anger+inner fire, and all the +FD mods form equipment is quite easy to achieve and exceed.

I have a few questions left though, which the board search didn't answer:
1) I'm 90% sure increased elemental damage, does not effect burn damage, does it?
2) I'm not sure if burning can be extended by Buff Duration (which would be ... wow!)
3) ... damn, I had so many more questions. When I remember, I'll post them.

About the build I posted. It's outdated! This should not be done as witch! Either templar:
Burnhard the Templar
or marauder:
Burny the Marauder

I think marauder is more efficient with the passive points, but templar can get to EE quicker. Since I already have a lvl 25 Burnhard, I'll do this as templar.

Two more concerns about the build:
- MANA: don't know how that's gonna work. I might have to switch around some life-passives to reach eldrichs battery, than it's easy
- ACCURACY: there are like 4 accuracy/dex nodes around. I took them all! It might even be worth going for resolute technique to avoid that (crits are not necessary but they're nice nontheless). On the other hand, I do need a lot of dex in the end because of the skills I use. I hope this can be solved through equipment.

There you go. Any opinions?
