Build of the Week Video #3

My finger hurts hearing all that clicking...
Suggestion: Get a microphone that doesn't pick up the sound of your clicking, and maybe you could pump up the music and sound effects volume too?

God I love you, Chris, you magnificent man. Thanks for another great video, and please consider my duelist, Leslee, for next week.
I have also been working on an Absolute Tech/Blood Mage Build, and I have to say, even though it may look like it should be a powerhouse, I have a hard time staying alive.

Most areas are fine, but when I get into area where mobs have a lot of poison and/or chaos damage I get decimated. This makes some areas very easy, and other areas extremely hard.

I am not sure what do do about this. Build below:

Maybe the melee tweaking Chris mentioned in the video will help this.

Start adapting yourself to a support. Go for every possible health node. It'll give you a niche that'll make you valued in parties. Use lots of auras and get shield and armor passives. Use enduring cry to take aggro. You may not deal all that much damage, but if you play with others, you won't have to. Everyone will benefit from your tanking and auras, and you won't even have to be "good" at the game to be the MVP. Make sure to get Ruby/Topaz/Granite/etc. flasks as well as one health flask that increases armor by 90% while it's active. You only need that one health flask. The other defensive flasks will make you virtually immortal in tandem with all your other passives.

As for chaos damage, I think I read that eventually there will be a resistance flask for chaos, or it might be a mod on a health/mana flask that gets rid of poison.

Those buggers in the temple can be tough to deal with, I know, but use leap slam to close the gap and kill them before they kill you.

I can see you're much higher level than me, and you went with a lot of damage passives... so maybe those suggestions won't work for you. That's just the kind of build I've wanted to make but I'm busy nursing my duelist.

I mostly play solo which may be the problem with this build. In groups I do fine, I almost never die. But it seams that ranged witches and archers can kill stuff before I even have time to run up to it and hit it. Makes playing in groups not so much fun.

Again, I hope this is what Chris was talking about when he mentioned melee tweaks.

Or maybe I just need to forget about doing elemental damage and just break down and use flicker strike.
I have a resolute technique/lifesteal/life regen. deal 3.5k dps, 2k hp, as long as I keep hitting stuff using warlords mark I dont die :) but if I do stop....eek :(
Nice video! Very educative for players like me who couldn't test it out yet. Can't wait for build of the week #4, just to see that gameplay and different skills etc... *-*

Good video.

Someone needs to make a dubstep remix of Chris saying 'dub dub dub'.

lol, i was so confused at first.... i was like why is he saying dub over and over.... then he said pathofexile.com and i was like oh... he was saying WWW >.<

BTW.... you don't need to type or say WWW. any more... every thing is wold wide web now. >.<
We can't solve problems we can't talk about...
I use a similar build myself. My level 42 marauder however has slightly higher dmg and higher regen. Please see current link below.

I use warlords mark and rejuvenation totem in each encounter and sweep to allow me to hit the max amount of targets to get the max dmg and hp gain using life on hit gems.

This combination has allowed me to take on high numbers of mobs with very little risk.

The added damage nodes has made any worry about higher level dmg issues almost none existent.

Enjoy

Hi everyone! I have a witch build that i'd like to share! :D

http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAQMBAYFuigRMZMMPZkxME2sjviF52nohrjv2J-0aFy9PnYYy6rnsNbUq6zYjBVc6ad_uP55fTUQN9URGr_7zSUc4nFU0L4xdrW-vYEcEyWIW8uNjOr_IZhKo7mbHNdtoxUAZdQ8h_3cAFgl50r5penHH_O3XuXiYVKpkgqopxJYcZWr1ObqP_Zht070hu1bNymZjwL_LyOBLbLanLlnOuUoGRuRNukriMvt1lma1DdkJHdm5Y47Fi7FwpPeSfc3EuIU8psSn_-0lMkujWapNv3_34rj3KaM=

basic spell gems required:
summon skeletons (must-have)
raise spectre
raise zombie

support gems required:
minion life (must-have, best to get all your 3 summoning spells buffed with one of these)
minion damage
minion speed

auras required:
anger
wrath
haste
clarity (recommended)
discipline (optional)
hatred (last-on-the-list, as 30% of a witch's mana pool is A LOT to sacrifice!)

Note that you will need to look for items that help boost your mana pool by a lot if you want to cast all these auras at once.
Also, since wrath and hatred are dexterity-based, you might consider getting the +30 dexterity node to level that aura a little higher.

support totems(optional):
if possible, link hatred to the totem! saves 30% of your mana pool!

This is an extremely noob-friendly build! all you have to do is cast all your auras***, get to a mob, summon some skeles, summon the totem, and once things start exploding, bodies will drop, allowing you to raise them as either spectres or zombies! The best part to this is that STUFF WILL EXPLODE EVERYWHERE :D (I love seeing stuff explode) also, summoning a zombie or a spectre will use up a corpse. this is an extremely good counter to the super-irritating necromancers :)

The biggest drawback i noticed is that other classes of the same level tend to kill things at a much faster rate. this is because the minions tend to run around aimlessly instead of focusing on the enemies. I've read somewhere that minion AI will be improved in a later patch though, so i expect this to be less of a problem after that.

***due to the nature of this build, there's a possibility that there won't be enough skill hotkeys for all your auras+spells+summons. I've noticed, however, that swapping an aura skill out once you've casted it does not cancel the aura. Hence, all the auras effectively does not require a slot.

sadly, my witch, auleah, is not of the optimal build. this is my first take on this build, and hence there's quite a bit of trial-and-error. however, even without the optimal build, filling the screen with minions buffed with auras just looks and feels awesome. Makes me feel like some battle commander xD
