Why isn't this game on Steam?!

First of all, im enoying the beta a lot right now. That being said, I would love to see this game on Steam either now or in the future. I feel like many more people would be aware of the game if it were put on there. More people = more fun!

Perhaps after it goes OB or even after launch, so wait awhile. . .

My guess is this will never happen.

Why not? I'm not familiar with how this stuff works. But there are hundreds of indie games who release their games on Steam. Steam also supports massive content updates pretty easily.

Valve gets a fair share of the game's profits to their pocket.
Also, Valve would be setting the rules for their servers and would be in charge of enforcement.
In return, Path of Exile would receive marketing through the Steam platform, the advantages of the Steam social system, automated update support, Steamworks, possible promotional tie ins with games like TF2, even Workshop support for items if GGG chooses to go down that route.

I think you're incorrect on that point, as that applies for games hosted by Valve. Many games are listed on Steam, but are independently hosted, or also listed on other distribution networks.
In that case, I hope the game is on Steam in the future. Steam would get it mad publicity. However, since its F2P, that means Valve would get a cut of all the their cash shop sales, and I have a feeling that wouldn't make GGG very happy.

True enough but you are essentially paying for marketing. Millions of players log on to steam per day, and no one ever said advertising was free right?
