As other people have stated, the download speed seems broken, living in sweden slight snowstorm happening somewhere. running the standalone client.

This here is more evidence that PoE1 is on life support. They can't even dedicate servers, and it's not because they are overloaded, because the metrics for players right now is pretty darn low compared to even the middle of a league. They are literally deploying a patch that is a preparation for PoE2, and even after 20+ minutes the download speed is abysmal.
At this rate, we're looking at an hour, or two before the download finishes for most people. Even if they do fix the issues with download speed, it's already going to be an hour too late, and showing that PoE1 is simply NOT a priority for anything right now. I hate seeing this pet project from GGG (PoE2) completely and slowly destroy PoE1 this way. Literally a duplication bug from 4 days ago still isn't hot fixed. If that happened during a normal league start or without PoE2 coming soon, they'd fix and jump on that within hours. But nah, they just don't care anymore. PoE2 better OVER deliver because the complete disregard of PoE1 at this point is pretty nasty. Probably have 2-3 people working on it and 1 person on the backend too, and deployed everyone else to PoE2. |

Delivering the patch via carrier pigeon is actually a pretty clever way to make sure we watch the stream instead of playing PoE!
