" That's because people see the information in the game and believe it. This is a grave defect causing a lot of players to rely on POB and third party tools. Because if they don't, they don't have the right information to equip themselves. Resistances are easier to see, because the cap once you go over it is clearly visible. I have 90% fire res but the information seems to limited this to 75% Visbility of the cap reaching it's limit. This functionality isn't visible for Evasion or Armour because it varies based on the content that you're doing. The character sheet shows you at 90% PDR scaled at t7 maps. And people doing t16s are rightfully confused cause the character sheet shows you at 90% PDR but it's not calculating that you're doing red maps, it's a design flaw for sure. |

I am very confident extended tool-tips and general overhaul of new player experience would be god-sent for newbies. Have the game inform you subtly when your base items are really weak compared to the current drops, make the game lead you into the character tab - maybe a quest in Act 5 which rewards you for having your resistances at 50+ and some defensive layer like 1000 armor/EV/ES, or quest that rewards you for having item with at least 4 T5 mods somewhere, which would lead player into extended item description - things like that, so someone who normally wouldn't care about those menus would take a careful look at them for the first time. I am up for players discovering themselves and not being led by their hand, but spread some breadcrumbs for those less initiated, they can be taught too if given a proper chance. New player experience might be one of, if not the biggest set-back for player base count.

" All you have to do, is watch a 5 minute Video. 1. Get a PROPER Build Guide. 2. Always try to get high Elemental Resistances (As close to 75% as you can) 3. Get either Prutiy of elements or something like Determination 4. You will drop a Chaos or two, get a proper Leveling Unique. For example something with high damage or Resistances (Look up POE leveling gear) Its not as hard as you think. My first time playing POE was devastating. I hated it and flamed on Steam reviews. Today, 6k hours later, hundreds and hundreds of dollars less in my pockets, im addicted |

" Surely the game is profitable in spite of its visual clutter and lack of feedback, and not because of it. |

" That's very far from reality though. 70% of the level 90+ chars in SSF HC this league are dead. |

" In this day and age,it's the player's fault and here's why: There is SO much information on the internet about games these days, best this, best that, strategies for this, etc.. There is no excuse for a player that is frustrated to not do any kind of research of ask for help on these forums or even Reddit. YouTube has a mountain of information about this game. The answers are out there, but some people don't want to take the time to ask the questions, instead they want to be a victim for attention because being lazy is the better option. A little harsh? Maybe, but it's the truth. Last edited by Gulch#5697 on Sep 12, 2024, 11:32:50 AM

There are major differences between "Is it the game's fault" and "is it the player's fault".
the question ALWAYS should be: is what the game telling you accurate? In the case of armour/evasion, it has NEVER been accurate since the very beginning. I don't know why GGG won't fix this, or come up with a better system. But it is just straight up lying to the player that looks at it. Therefore, when it comes to armour and evasion and "but my defense is this!": it is the GAME'S fault 100%. I don't care how many tutorials or videos or wikis exist OUTSIDE the game, if the GAME lies its the game's fault. But in 99% of circumstances in PoE, it ends up being the player being unwilling or not understanding that you aren't going to know every little thing the FIRST time it happens. Maybe not even the hundredth time. That is called "experience" and "learning". I personally feel guides, tutorials, and youtube videos stifle the learning experience and cause more problems than they solve: but they are still a useful tool if you find yourself stuck after having done your due diligence trying to figure things out. So....if you are quitting and raging because of 1hkos, but then we see that there is zero mitigation in the build....that is the PLAYER's fault. It is not the game's job to make your build for you. It tells you something is wrong by killing you. It is YOUR job to look at all the defenses available and see what you are lacking. Proper mitigation actually DOES make the 1hko's almost entirely disappear, except in the most juiced, terrible situations. And even then, its generally because of stacking damage map mods without thinking. Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Sep 12, 2024, 1:41:05 PM
