"The operation cannot be completed" during unveil

I could not find a recent post (last one from 2022). I am getting this error every time when trying to unveil an item. Doesn't matter if I do it by talking to June on the map or back at the hideout.

I still see the 3 choices to select from, pick one that might be still level 1 or 2 upgrade, but it fails with "the operation cannot be completed".

Any ideas?

Hmm, so it is just stuck at selection? Can you remove the item from the Jun window, or is it also stuck in there?
I can remove it, no problem. It just the unveiling always fails with no recipe (or its upgrade) granted. Just the error message.
Is it just one specific item, or is this happening for all items you try to unveil?

Usually what happens for me, is the item actually gets locked in the crafting window until the unveil mod is chosen and applied. You can't take the item out even if you want to until the mod is added. So it sounds like your item/s is getting this error after the selection options are rolled, but before it get applied for some reason.

So when you do put the item back in the crafting window, I assume it gives you the same three options again?

If this is one specific item, perhaps link it here and someone might spot something.

I think I see the post you are talking about, is it this one?

Sounds like they were getting the item to unveil, just with an error. Yours isn't getting unveiled at all is it? So It still has the translucent hieroglyphic veiled text on it?

It happens to all the items. Once I receive the error message, the hieroglyphs are gone and I can take out the item from the unveil slot without any issues. It is just a "regular" item at this point. Can't unveil it anymore.
And it doesn't have the unveiled mod you selected?

Not sure what this means?

Yes, only picking up mods that are < 3 (upgradeable).

And no, after the message pops up, the upgraded mods are not reflected in the crafting inventory (if it was at level 2, it still is level 2

It's not quite clear what you're talking about. Unveiling mod unlocks all tiers of this mod on the crafting bench since 3.16. Also these crafting mods are weaker than unveiled.

My understanding was like this:

1) if any of the presented choices during unveil is already showing tier 3 - don't expect any further upgrades to recipes. An additional hint would be the "progress bar" is already yellow/golden color anyway
2) if it shows tier 1 or 2 (blue bar) it will result in upgrading the crafting recipe to corresponding level: 1 -> 2, 2 -> 3

Based on what you are saying, it only takes 1 unveil for all tiers to be available on the crafting bench? This would then make sense on why the message appears.

That would also mean that even if you are presented with 3 choices during unveil and some of them are hinting at upgrade potential (rank 1 or 2), these recipes have been previously acquired through some other game mechanics and you need to find other ways to upgrade them - unveil will not fix these.

Correct?

This is incorrect. Not all veiled modifiers have multiple crafted tiers, let alone 3 tiers.

Whether it's showing tier 1, tier 2, or tier 3, that is only in relation to the number of craftable tiers for that modifier, not whether there is an upgrade or unlock available. The only indicator of whether you'll unlock new crafts is the color of the progress bar: gold if you already have them, white/blue if you don't.
