Struggling to level and getting frustrated at time wasting mechanics

I've got another theory. The game is actually much easier now. Players who were never in the realm of 100 are getting much higher level than they were before, and running into a mechanic they have never reached. Before it was get to 86, tackle shaper or do some juiced t16 maps and that is the league, maybe you do awakener. Now they are getting much further than this, into high 90's, but they've changed their own measuring stick from awakener to T17's, ubers and 100. Even thought they are way more powerful than before and have levelled further, they have decided it's not enough by their new measuring stick. May not be the case for everyone. Some others want to roll their maps tough and don't understand these mods are multiplicative. You need to get to a point in your build before you can handle that.

This league is harder than last league, sure. That happens after an easy league. Last league was the easiest league ever. People called it Harvest 2.0, it was easier from what saw. Print what ever gear you want. Get 150+ natural chaos drop off a map just because an easily accessible affix. Level with shrines and lantern at a massively increased speed. It's going to feel like moving to ruthless after that. It's not a hard league though. The league mechanic take some time and doesn't give instant payoffs like the last league, but its not difficult, and I think in general people are getting further than they did probably even last league, but certainly a few leagues back to say Kalandra. There has not been nerfs this league, quite the opposite, there was a lot of buffs. You get about +60 life on gear slots. Melee is way improved, certainly for regular builds. An extra slot on the map device. In trade there is much more accessible currency trading to save time. What was made harder? Mobs are not harder. People might be juicing them up harder, but they are not harder. If you take your current character, and match it up against a character in week three of another league, I doubt it is worse. I bet it has progressed further in most cases on the same amount of play time, probably even including afk'd time in kingsmarch. Were all these characters running high level 90 builds before? With this much defense and dps? People are talking about going backwards. Going backwards is, last league I could beat shaper, this league I can't make it to shaper. Not last league I could reach my benchmark, this league I can't reach my extended bench mark. Put some blinkers on and don't measure by the people that have played 10's of thousands of hours and are trying to do ubers in 1 day. You are most likely getting further than you were before. They've added more to the game to give you something to do if you get there. Your league isn't invalidated if you don't get to 100, that's never been the bench mark of the game and still isn't.

Yes it is really annoying to die with no explanation of how or what, just enemy saw you now you're dead.

There's a big difference between losing a boss fight and some random enemy one hits you, heck sometimes I don't even think they hit me. I've died in maps and Delve with no understanding of what happened or why.

If everyone has to convert physical damage into elemental damage because armor is crap well maybe they should fix armor to do what the screen says it should or cap it at 75% etc.

I'm not trying to pick on u or ur build, but the game right now tells u that ur build isn't good enough for the content u're running. (regardless of the xp penalty)

Just a general comment...

But it's the xp penalty that makes me give up the game in frustration somewhere between 90 and 93 every time. If it were not so brutal I wouldn't feel quite so abused after a bad encounter death wiping away a days worth of playtime. The xp curve VS death penalty is hopefully something they are thinking about for poe 2.

Some sort of death log recap would help with this I agree. They have stated the won't do one, saying they think it will confuse players more. I think that is a bit of a cop out though. Other games do it, it works fine. This might be more complex, but I think they just don't want to implement it. If they don't think it will be good for the game, ok, but it can clearly be done, even if it would be difficult to program into the game at this point.

just a general comment... leave ur general comments in the feedback forums and don't cherry pick something out of my post that doesn't have to do with anything. There's enough threads about the xp penalty already to voice ur frustration.
I remember my very first build when game was at full Acts 3 took me to 76 lvl and t4 maps.

Before that i finished game when it ended on doors to Solaris Temple.

Good old days.

Then act 10 expantion came. And i was struck how game become hard in act 5.

That because game started pushing You to do something with what you got. Learn and overcome.
