Upcoming patch schedule and Open Beta date estimate

I just wondered, I read or heard several times that they opt for about 100 skill gems on release day, which is about twice as much as there are now.
Yet there is no mention of any major skill gem addition here. Is it still planned to add so many skill gems?
If you'll ever implement a (real) crafting system (with resources extraction, recipes, etc.), well, my soul will be yours :)

Oh, by the way: this game looks totally awesome. Seriuosly, you guys did an excellent job.
9 out of the 10 voices in my head say I'm not crazy.

I have just found out about this game via some forums, to then watch it on TotalBiscuit's 'WTF Is ...?' video. I am really looking forward to the open beta, looked very good and polished even from an almost year old video.

Currently there are 73(give or take 1 or 2) skill gems. This does not include supports. If you read the OP you will see that it does say that more skill gems will/may be coming. They are just not listed as highlights for the patches.

I really hope that either act 3 is pretty long, or that you really have left room in to add additional acts as time goes by.
The game felt too short, but it was a touch more challenging since the patch.

That's the entire point of the end-game in PoE. It's supposed to be excruciatingly difficult. Actually, the 3rd difficulty was supposed to be like that. After tons of complaints, they added the 4th difficulty and made it very hard so players could beat the 3rd rather easily. A few months ago, we stated that we hoped to enter Open Beta in June. Some of the crucial features that we must enter Open Beta with are not yet finished, so we will delay the Open Beta until they are. As mentioned above, we expect that this will be mid-August. While we strongly believe that this estimate is accurate, we will update it over time if work progresses ahead or behind of schedule.


Curious to know if you guys are still within the ballpark estimate of making the mid-august for open beta? Not that it matters if you do or don't, as I cherish the fact that you guys take your time and get things done correctly before putting a patch out. Just a curiosity that's all.
