0.10.5 Patch Notes

The ONLY way to make everyone happy with the aura visual effects is to make it an in game option.

I love the new aura visual effects. They look simple and clear. It is great. Thanks GGG.

The auras are now just cleaner and crisper with more personality. They fit the PoE world a lot better instead of the old mushy disco balls at characters feet.

I like the new aura visuals and agree they fit much better. I'll miss the reverse-flow interaction of clarity and discipline, but new ones look very clean. I think clarity could use a bit less black and perhaps a darker outline on the effect instead, but otherwise I like it. Purity is probably my least favorite of the new effects, at first glance the symbols look kind of like snowflakes. A little more bold on the purity symbols could go a long way, they look sort of grainy at the moment because they are so small (fullscreen 1920 x 1080 max AA/AF). They don't quite look as clean as the other new effects because they are so tiny, particularly the fire sun symbol. The little sun's rays are almost disappearing while circling :P

Minor issues aside, great job on the visual updates IMO Russell.

I love new auras. Now my character really looks like inhabitant of some dark fantasy setting not like christmas tree.
That new Aura skins suck like hell...

Can you not invent an Option that we can change the aura skins or something like that ?

Do you guys really care that much about the way auras look? I just don't get it. Came here to read about the new gems and all I see is whining about how their character doesn't glow as much.

I love what the new patch has done, Chris. Everything looks good...except for just one small detail:

"To improve performance, we have reduced the complexity of most visual aura effects."

I was kinda bummed out by this because for me, what made auras special, was that each one was a very visual, very cool way to show off a buff. You felt powerful with something as resplendent as an aura on you. Now players have just a tiny ring encasing them...and for some reason, all the enemies got to keep their auras as flashy as before.

I know you did this for smoother gameplay, but to be honest, I loved the old look of the auras. Lots of players I talked to today felt the same way I did. One person even suggested that the developers should create an option to turn down the visual effects of auras in parties with other players to smooth it out for those who experience a lot of lag. This would still give players the options having their auras still being flashy, but they could turn it off in areas of high latency.

So perhaps in the next mini-patch, could you consider maybe adding such an option to the game? Many thanks for an awesome patch, Chris. This is the only problem I saw. Keep up the great work!

And there's a reason for that, melee gems are there pretty much just for the flavor, they won't make your melee character more survivable, nor increase his damage output in most cases. Nothing to talk about, really.

The third gem is really a gem (pun intended) for crit builds and few stray dischargers and that's about it.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
