There is a bug on this Freeze Mine gem.
It tends to remember the slot (like any other), but refuse to be released if swapped out with other gems (meaning the freeze mine gem no longer mounted on the socket). It affects when you port to any instances. Re-assigning other skills to that slot doesn't work. Procedure:- 1. insert Freeze mine gem to socket and re-assign the mouse slot to it. 2. now Swap the Freeze mine out with new gem (eg burning arrow) 3. Re-assign the new gem to the same slot you put in FM gem slot. 4. Enter to new instance. What you will see:- The new skill in the mouse slot got reset back. Slots affect are:- 1. Left-mouse - FM gem refuse to release, but the Default Attack have priority instead. 2. Middle-mouse - FM gem refuse to release. 3. Right-mouse - FM gem refuse to release. Perm. I can't get added damage supports (or any other supports) to work on this skill.
The freeze is neat at very low levels, but later on it becomes useless. It is very slow and awkward having to place the mine, run back, and detonate manually. You can do some fun things combined with traps, but it's still much more effective to just kill everything with pure damage skills. |
|
The time to drop and detonate the mine make this near useless. When I'm trying to run off and freeze a mob, the last thing I need is to have to stand there while I press detonate. Should just be another throwable trap IMO.

What makes it even worse is that it's VERY easy to double tap your detonate key, causing you to go through the detonate animation twice. The freeze on the mine also doesn't last much longer than the detonate animation, making it fairly useless (and potentially harmful if you end up doing the animation twice).

I'd much prefer this as a throw-able trap as well...I do see how it could be helpful as an escape route, but if that is the case, then it should be an automatic mine, not a detonate mine... Trying to escape while trying to detonate at the same time does not work :P
Great idea to freeze mobs, but needs to be tweaked. |

well, it would make not much of a difference to Bear Trap, if it is to become a trap, or auto-mine. hope there are a better suggestion. Perm. Retired from this unforgiving land of the Exiles.

ok.
i got few suggestions. A) multi-projectile - make the mine fires multi-projectiles in all or arc direction, when denotate. - when it hits, it will freeze the target. - the further the projectile travel, the less damage/freeze it does. - having pierce is not advicable, as they can add pierce support gem. B) homing mine (non-denotate) - make the mine home to any target that steps into the radius. - when the mines hits, its cause a AOE freeze. C) Limpet mine (requires to denotate) - make the mine to home and attached to any target that steps into its radius. - Player can denotate mine, irregardless the mine attach or not. - when mine denoated, it will do it damage. - stackable. D) Daisy-chained trip mine - 2 mines chained together by a trip line, at a fixed interval. - can be increase in level by another interval with additonal mine. - how it is laid, is like using "Photoshop" software, drawing a curve. - any target cross/trip the line, cause the two mines to set off. (yes 2 mines that are tripped by the line, not every mine) Perm. Retired from this unforgiving land of the Exiles. Self-impost EXILED. Last edited by starsg#0408 on May 14, 2012, 6:23:36 AM

" It does feel very clumsy and it isn't good enough to offset requiring 2 of your 8 skill slots imo. | |
Sometimes I wonder if they even try these things before they put them in the game....
