I'd hate if this is the same as with DOT dagger builds, you spend half an hour delicately setting traps to get through a situation most straight up damage classes just run through in seconds.

This is my exact concern. Why set all that up in the picture when you can just hold right click and slaughter them in seconds with your 33724829k *insert skill here* (split arrow, ice spear, etc.).

agreed i would only see a use for it on boss's, trash mobs especially on normal difficulty shouldn't require so much prep. another character could cleave, sweep or just fire storm the group, unless you use less mana on the traps i don't see much point besides entertainment value for normal grinding or for extremely squishy characters or to get distance.

it would seem the new whirling blades or ethereal knives for dex based aoe would be more beneficial in this situation illustrated in the image... maybe not as satisfying or tactical but possibly faster, or just casting the spell that would otherwise be a trap instantly.

i will try traps out, the idea seems fun just dont know if its going to be practical.

PVP - setting up traps for campers that likes to sneak up behind people. I'd feel a lot safer knowing I can set up ways to catch people in cut-throat.
Running isn't freedom. You should know that.
ighnaz - Thanks for the beta key!!!!
I HAVE NO MORE BETA KEYS!!
Trap waypoints for PVP if you have a silly enemy that tries to flee ;)
Shoep - Default league Ranger
Peohs - Any other class or character i play.
Jhuvik - My Marauder
Merialeth - My witch

We don't exactly have PvP right now, do we? And even if we did that's not a good way to look at it in terms of balance. Traps / mines / totems are obviously meant for PvE as well so they should be balanced as such. This is all just speculation as we haven't tried them yet but I have a feeling that simply holding your right click for a few seconds and mowing down the mob pictured in the screenshot would be quite a bit faster and more efficient than setting up traps and mines and whatnot.

Traps look fun. And, so what if it takes a while to use 'em?

I dun always play for speed. Sometimes, I just wanna watch the suckers bleed. =^[.]^=

Do you really think it would take that long to set up 3 traps and 2 mines? 10 seconds tops... It would take about that much time to mow them down.

After long enough, such a thing would be rote and you would not have to think that much about it; just find a suitable area with packs of monsters nearby and presto.

Not only that, the trap method would be safer, meaning you would not have to expend as much time gathering experience to make up for the deaths garnered by the 'typical methods'.

Taking the time to plan on how to most effectively destroy a pack of monsters surely beats having to create a new character; I could see traps and mines being very popular in Hardcore...
watch the Totalbusciut video, if u throw a trap directly to an enemie it works like a instant spell ^^

Exactly what I want. Thank you Chris. *Rubs hands together and squeels with delight* The rest of you numbnuts can just sit around and debate over who is the most ignorant and or annoying.
