Some items, skills and mechanics were significantly stronger. Also, maps went up to what, level 78 max? What would be a high mid-tier map nowadays was the highest-tier content available in the game. And they couldn't roll even a fraction of the nasty red map mods nowadays. And there were no Shaper, Elder, guardians, abyss, breach, no Atziri/Uber Atziri (for a while), beyond, etc.

The overall player power level was lower. However, the power level of the enemies we fought was much lower.

Strongboxes were considered threatening when they introduced them in Ambush league. Same goes for shrines.

That's irony. It was never a GG chest.

Also, there were AFK facetank builds which could tank ANYTHING in the game without moving. There were legacy Kaom's Heart (1000 life) and legacy Aegis Aurora. And legacy Shav's. And old Vaal Pact. And let's not mention what happened when they introduced CoC and Mjolner for the first time.

The game was easier. It was just not so well-researched and there wasn't so much information on good builds.

Although the legacy items were also beyond awesome, at that point anything 6-Link was close to GG and having life and tri-res absolutely made it GG for most. Voll's Protector 5-Link(!) used to fetch several exalts whereas it 15-20c for one now...I know because I used to buy them up and link them, then resell them (I was naively trying to get a 6-Link).

Strongboxes were threatening! They only stopped when they put a delay on all the mod activation and fixed the massive lag spike from them all spawning at once lol. High Ilvl ice novas are still the biggest hits your likely to take

Strongboxes were threatening! They only stopped when they put a delay on all the mod activation and fixed the massive lag spike from them all spawning at once lol. High Ilvl ice novas are still the biggest hits your likely to take
