Hall Of Grandmasters: how tf are you supposed to complete this map?!

Arc traps also hit therefore you would still need SR (Balefire); other DOT (vortex) or BRC gem vs block guy eventually (there are few of them and not always)

I haven´t tried minion build on this map but removing minions on this block guy and kill him with Balefire + gems should help.
Or you can try BCR gem in minion setup (use only minions with BCR gem, remove others) but never tried this on minion though.

If you have a green link available just put in reduced block support. Makes it very easy.

I do have a green socket I can use for my 6-link summon skeleton. Currently using faster attacks support only because I'm having to off-color 3 blue, 3 red on a str/dex item and RNG hates me, lol. Might give this a try with a Balefire as a backup. Worth a shot, right?

I use a scorching ray blocker for hogm. I guess a good RF build would work too or you simply use volatile dead.

The first time I finished this was just relying purely on an arc trapper (when it was still meta).

In Legion I ended up doing it again with my cycloner and ed/contagion characters - the few people the cycloner couldn't kill a balefire swap on the ed/contagion setup boosted the spell damage enough to finish the rest.

(Balefire on the cycloner didn't work given the requirements, and even when swapping gear to allow it to equip it lacked the punch to finish off the troublesome ones.)

Yep, totally over league play.

Baron Necromancer. Which, based on what I’ve read here, explains why some of these mobs are unkillable for me since I have no way to get around the regen plus them being hit 40+ times per second. I managed to beat the first wing, but the second stonewalled me.

I found a way to easily beat Grandmasters as Baron Necromancer without using anything other then zombies and spectres. By using this method i finished it deathless with only 1 portal.

But you need Minion Instability for it to work. Hopefully you are not far from that node.
Then you need to 6-link your zombies with:
- Minion Damage Support
- Minion Life Support
- Elemental Focus Support
- Fire Penetration Support
- Combustion Support
(if you don't want to change socket colors you can use other support gems that scale minion instability)

For spectres you must use Undying Evangelists (for proximity shield aura so your zombies don't get killed offscreen by a lightning strike bow user).

Then what you do is have your maximum number of zombies spawned. Go to the first Pack, flame dash exactly in the middle of them, convocation all you zombies, and run back as quickly as you can. All your zombies will explode from minion instability at once doing massive damage, nothing will survive. Don't stop to use SRS or skeletons or other skills or you will die. Just run back, resumon all your zombies, and do it again. If a ranged enemy survives just resumon all zombies, run as fast as you can to him, flash dash and use convocation on top of him, then run back.

Repeat this process from pack after pack. It will take some time to resumon all zombies but you will finish the map very easily.

Hmm My Slow Mo Zombie build with instability on the Skeles (thanks Wrecker) handled 99% of this map no problem, and then couldn't make a dent in what I now know as 'the Blocker' in 3 of 4 lanes.

If I get the map again, I'll have to try your Zombie bomb instead Paynek...
So an update:

After 3 more attempts, I still have yet to complete this BS map. Throwing in a reduce block chance support helped with “the blocker” as well as using a Balefire with CWC > spirit offering > desecrate for survivability. However, I was stonewalled by characters with absurd DPS where my minions wouldn’t even touch them and I couldn’t survive while channeling Balefire despite “healing” 2k+ ES per second while doing so. One attempt it was 2 chaos based ranged characters and I thought, “I’ll just respec into CI”. Nope, because apparently there was some other form of crazy damage they were doing. Then it was a righteous fire/scorching ray character that melted me and my minions in less than 2 seconds. The final attempt was a group of 100’s near the final chest that I couldn’t get near or kite down the hall in order to seperate them.

Seriously, screw this map!

I’ll try the “suicide bomber” method using minion instability next, but I’ll have to do some prep work with leveling gems. If that doesn’t work, I guess its off to build a character specifically to complete this map. If I have to go that route, is arc trap the absolute sure-fire way to complete this map? Because I’m so over this map.

On a side note, I did encounter “Izaro” and managed to kill her. So that’s something, I guess...
Success!!!

So using the advice @PayneK had given, I switched to minion instability and put summon zombies > minion damage > minion life > fire penetration > empower > and reduced block chance in my six link. Really didn’t want to recolor as I had already burned 600+ chromes just to get it one color off of what I need.

Even so, I had to get creative for two instances. One was a mob called TheSpiderQueen(?) who shrugged off 14 beefy zombies, 12 skeletons, and 2 carrion golems exploding on her at the same time with curse of elements on. Switched to the Balefire and nothing. Had to frost bomb, Balefire, AND suicide bomb her with minions to take her out.

The other was the very last mob which was a ranged bow user that also was having none of my suicide bomb attempts. Killed me three times and I was starting to lose hope. Finally, I went all in with vaal summon skeleton, the zombies, and Balefired while spamming every flask I had and took him out.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Couldn’t have done it without you!
