5 Ways to Boost Melee (without changes on passive tree)
Hi guys i really want to support melee and instead of continue whining about it i decided to give some inspiration to GGG. Please feel free to comment and support with ideas yourself, cheers!
So here it goes: 1) Juggernaut (Support Gem - Strenght based) Level Req 31 Adds 10-20 physical damage Gain an endurance charge when you kill an enemy. Notes

Physical damage will go up to 20-40 at level 20 Each % of quality adds .5% attack speed 2) Shadowdash (Active Skill Gem - Dex/Int based) Level Req 31 Melee,Projectile,Attack Your shadow dashes to the nearest target attacking it with equipped weapons. Your shadow counts as a projectile for this attack. Only works with daggers,claws,one handed swords and unarmed. Notes

Affected by chain. Not affected by fork,LMP,GMP. You can have only 1 shadow. Easy to make skill just delete actor shadow for the duration and use the mariner model without the shield and the lighning particles. 3)Clone (Active Skill Gem - Dex/Int based) Level Req 19 Spell,Duration Cooldown: 10 sec Summon an exact duplicate of yourself that mimics every ability you do. The clone has half your life and deals half your damage. The clone lasts for 7 seconds. Notes

+1 second duration per 5 levels (10 second duration at 20 level) Even though this spell benefits all characters it can prove particularly helpfull to melee. Especially when charging into a room full of mobs expecting to take a lot of damage. 4) Flicker Strike (REMAKE) Perform 5 fast attacks to nearby random enemies. The cooldown is removed but you are unable to act for the duration. +20% attack speed. Notes

With sufficient attack speed the duration can get under 2 seconds making this build viable and fun again. 5) Magnetic Armor (Active Skill Gem - Str/Int based) Spell,AoE,Duration,Buff Your armor becomes a magnet for the living pulling nearby enemies to you. You gain 200 Armor for the duration. Notes

Void And since am into crazy imagination mode today i will add a BONUS BONUS) Maelstrom Unleashed (Active Skill Gem - Int Based) Spell,Lightning,Fire,Ice,AoE Cooldown:6 seconds A magnetic storm rises from where you stand pulling enemies to you in a whirl dealing lighning damage. Then, you begin absorbing the heat from the area around you leaving a ground of ice and dealing cold damage. Then you release the energy you absorbed in a fiery explosion, dealing fire damage. The cooldown can be bypassed by expending 3 charges of any combination and kind. I actually like the concept behind the these ideas. They need a bit of fleshing out and balance, but nice all round.

personally i think the idea of having a "spell thorns gem" would also be nice. EG: %/gem level chance to retaliate attackers with attached skill. melee only.
like the idea of juggernaut would have to be restricted to melee magnetic armor sounds like a fun group tank utility spell. the other ideas sound interesting as well. |

Juggernaught would have to be restricted to kills with a melee skill. Plenty of people other than melee run enduring cry already, this would be too useful for some builds.
Shadowdash is alright. Hard to make a skill work with chain but not LMP, GMP, and fork since they all fall under the "projectile" group Clone, in general, I just want to see a clone skill like (shadow master anyone?). Make it a support gem and have it use attached skills. Make a unique that allows you to have multiple clones. The possibilities are endless and it would be a great skill to add. I say we make a whole thread and dedicate to this skill alone :p Flicker remake, would be unbalanced since I assume you would be invincible during the attack... Also 5 random attacks makes for 5 single target attacks on bigger enemies, also not a good balance. Would have to require multiple enemies (think chain) to bounce off. Magnetic armor, the whole "gravity" thing is a tough thing to program and not create issues. Not really worth the effort for this one imo. Maelstrom, again, gravity thing. When I read this skill I was more picturing a Hurricane type skill (sorry, I'm clearly a d2 fanboy) |

Well, since the monster can have reflect damage... how about the players. Maybe some sort of reflect damage charge. The more charges you have, the more damage you reflect to enemies. Perhaps a support gem that grants reflect for every endurance charge on your character.

" Nono you will take damage normally. During the early days of closed beta flicker strike had no cooldown and it was so fun to play and level with. I know it sounds off balance but with 70% damage effectiveness its nothing gamebreaking. Just a good mobility skill to help level melee characters without running around to kill the mobs. The drawback is that you are unable to act for the duration (like cyclone skill) making it very hard to map with. But hey, you can still level up in the same speed as a ranged character now. Again thank you for the good suggestions i will ask for a moderator to take a good look into this thread if we gather many good ideas. Thnx guys IGN: Blulkmagic
