" I think the feeling is, 10% more DPS is not worth losing the defense of a shield. You're dropping anywhere from 15-30% block, HP, and armor/evade/es. Plus most good weps don't have resists so you're probably giving some res up as well. And if you're DWing, Cleave is just so much better that it makes using any other AoE feel pointless. has anyone tested how multistrike interacts with cyclone? I'm genuinely interested in testing it but I don't really want to 'just buy and see'.

An update on my build.
It is going amazingly. Cyclone clears packs in Merciless like it is nothing. Kills rock rollers in Felshrine before they stand up, even rare ones. As of now my only fear comes from Elemental Reflect and some choice mobs I dislike(Flicker Spiders, Alchemists etc) DPS of my current abilities as of 63 (I really give two shits if people think I use too many) Frenzy- 5k Used strictly as a buff, never used to clear, I charge up for bosses or particuarly tough mobs, the % IAS gives me a huge boost to Infernal Blow,Cyclone and LS when needed. (Left Mouse) Infernal Blow- 12k DPS 7.5 APS due to how I linked it(used intermittently between single target and group clearing when Cyclone is not ideal. (Q) Flicker Strike- 6k DPS (used for resynching and to move or reposition) (w) Cyclone- 4500 DPS (feels like it does much more, clears faster than my 12k infernal blow on most packs, indefinitely sustainable on its own atm, also gives me a lot of LGoH) (E) Lightning Strike- 7k (lmp,lgoh used for regaining life) (RMB) I run Wrath, Anger and Grace as auras, they go into a near perfect Alpha's next level, curse of choice is still in the air. I have been using Elemental Weakness, thinking of using Conductivity. (used on W, then swapped out to non active slots) (T) and (Y) hold my Enduring Cry and Immortal call defensives. Current gear

My helm and my chest are my weak spots. I have a godly chest for 65 to get rid of that chest, and a near perfect Alpha's Howl for next level to replace Honourhome.

I also have a 6S Carcass Jack, but have yet to link it, but nice for later to add faster attacks to my chain of cyclone links.

On a very interesting gear note. With Lava Lash and good elemental passives Chernobog gives more damage than Aurora Aegis (I own both). 4500 tooltip Cyclone DPS or 4500 after doubling the tooltip? 4500 tooltip would be crazy!
I just read the dev manifesto about desync. I don't know if you guys plan on putting any desync fixes in for individual skills, but I think cyclone is a good candidate if so. The biggest priority would be a check to see if the server and client agree as to whether you are actually cycloning or not. And resync you if it doesn't match up :) |

4500~ Tooltip under frenzy.
Checked again and it is 3996 before Frenzy once frenzy is stacked it is just under 4400 but yep. Built for Cyclone and suddenly cyclone works wonders. Will jump in DPS once I get my Carcass Jack 6L'd. So 8800~roughly once doubled and no Carcass Jack yet. Yea I want that Jack linked and maybe better gloves with 16 IAS instead of these 13s. " My hardcore build differs quite a bit. I grab static blows, inner force, IR, and use a blood magic gem and an elemental prolif gem in my 5L, along cyclone/ll/WED. I don't get the blood magic keystone, which means I get purity/determination/haste-OR-vitality tri-aura combo on top of wrath/anger/grace, a.k.a. tremendous boost to survivability. My damage atm sucks though (only 1000 tooltip dmg) since I only get ele damage from my auras and from the rapier I linked earlier, synergized by only the Catalyze cluster of passives. Also not being able to fit faster attacks into the cyclone links hurts it further. However IMO elemental proliferation + static blows far outweighs the damage boost by faster attacks gem, as pack mobs get triple-shocked even before my whirl reach them. [Hardcore league]

Yes but do realize Static Blow is my next and final run to get me to where I need to be to pick up Inner Force shortly after. Inner Force is something I will seal up near the end of my build. Blood Magic Gems, though viable, are just not for me.
Right now I have actually begun the run to Static. 5 more skill points to reach it. I will reach it before 70. Inner Force by 75. Endurance Charges and Freeing up floaters (for instance right now my Light Res is low on my gear so I will be taking more resistances out of Mara until 80ish) comes right after. I will be moving forward to docks this morning or tonight, at 65 I feel ready to move this character to A3 and Docks, though I could eek out a few more fast levels in Fel. Now I know I am not playing Hardcore. But to put it in my perspective. My last Maps character had died 121 times (semi bad build) by 65. Merlinus has died 33 times. Most of those due to me trying to utilize Cyclone before I had the regen to properly sustain its blood cost, he has not died in over 20 levels. My goal is at least a 5k tooltip for Cyclone. But I am having trouble getting it past 4500 atm, need better gloves to achieve it I think and maybe a better belt with 30% Elemental instead of this really nice 20%.
