[3.6] BSC Winter Orb~2 min UE~Ridiculous Clear Speed~ Updated PoB

Here we go again for round 2, I have a cheap starter WO build for my starter then ill be going into this one endgame wise once i have some money to make it insane again.
The only question that pops up is what gem to use instead of controlled destruction because base crit can be 0%, so EO wouldn't be possible

They nerfed WO :(
Not too much.

You probably lost 10-15 % effective dps, but it's still viable for sure.
Damn, i can figure 4 nerfs

WO-Gem flat damage nerfed, but that isn´t so bad, but the decrease of damage effectiveness from 60% to 50% is round about 20% less damage

Less chaos-damage: Crafting-possibility Non-Chaos for the sceptre also nerfed, you can get only one element as extra chaos damage

Vaal Righthouse for big encounters nerfed

Removed the minimum Critical Strike Chance cap, so we need a new support gem and cant use controlled destruction anymore, because elemental overload will not proc --> please correct me if I'm wrong

Yes of course, you get new nods, but there are not for free.

Greetings

quoting someone else from another thread, cause I asked the same about Controlled Destruction

"Even with Controlled Destruction, you still have 2.4% crit since you are pathing thoru 2 20% crit nodes. If that's not enough to proc EO once every 8 seconds with so many hits, you will have to get crit on your shield probably. Or run efficacy before you get crit somwhere, but its 15% less damage.
The 60->50 effectiveness may also mean that empower 4 will be better than added cold"

"Somewhere it's explained - 100% reduced crit chance refers to your base crit chance not your actual crit chance. So if you take a few crit nodes on the passive tree or crit on your gear you are good to go."

The less chaos damage craft is not a problem in my opinion - new craft is cold dmg -> chaos dmg, new synthesis items will prolly give us the dmg boost we lost, pretty sure about that tbh and the 5% spell dmg nerf is not a big deal, Worb has still plenty of dmg :)

I'm just deciding between a trapper, new chaos skills or Worb, but I think I'll go Worb, is the most reliable one ;)

Hello,

I tried out Winterorb myself the last days using this build, because I want to play it coming league.

I was thinking about one simple change in the passive tree that could solve the elemental overload crit chance problem.

I personally would take out that whole "Blast Radius" path and instead go on the left side up and take the 2 "Spell Critical Strike Chance" points.
In PoB it still always displays 5%, so I can't tell how much it actually is. But after some testing I think its around 2-3 percent crit chance in total.

Can anyone confirm that?

Then you still have 2 more points left and can take Frost Walker,
which will give you in total 25% cold damage, 10% ele damage, 15% cold res, 5% cast speed. I wouldnt mind losing the area damage for this.
And in PoB it even shows me a small increase in DPS.

Thats would I would do, based on my own experience with winterorb.

i think this thread is dead.
I can recommend:

g00fy winter orb for 3.6

https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2326142/page/1

and sucks for 3.5, but people are still active there and work on th 3.6 version

PoB just updated with the Crit changes, with Light of Divinity and the 2 points near Annihilation we get 3.6% Crit Chance, if you go over Shadow and pick up Trickery it is 4.8% Crit Chance, thats almost the same as pre-nerf.

Personally I will use Storm Brand - Inc. Critical - Arcane Surge link to keep my EO up.

I'm glad Winter Orb survived and although all the Energy Shield changes look very juicy I'm looking forward to playing WO in Synthesis.
