Auras art is TOO BIG.
im toneing down the effected auras now (the ones that play on guys getting effected by the aura . Not the main one.)
Some are all good like the evasion one I like all the fluffy animals[img]http://i.imgur.com/mO8dR.png[\img]

Does anyone else have trouble using the ("tab" key) map while an aura is active?
In most zones, when Hatred is active, I find the central area of the map overlay undecipherable because gets blown out by the aura graphics. |

" Yes, my feedback exactly. The artwork for the auras is much too big, bright, and garish. The general look and feel of PoE is dark and gritty. Why the big cartoonish glowing blobs of orbiting spheres? I already thought the charges were a bit large; the auras are just plain over the top. Multiple times I have struggled to see what is going on near my character, because the aura graphics are getting in the way (eg. versus flingers or small apes.) IMO the way the aura looks on an affected party member is how it should look for the originator -- just a subtle glow. (BTW, this applies to Molten Shield, too!) |

D3 dev team would be comparing D3 to Wow if this was a blizzard thread :D
i do agree auras should be more subtle and detailed than big orbiting spheres (SILLY!!!). please! change them! Phase 1: Make D3 Phase 2: ? Phase 3: Profit Last edited by TheFalls212#5812 on Mar 25, 2012, 3:47:15 AM

I can scale them down however im not going to change them. ill bring the elemental damage auras down to the ground also. I may looks into the elemental damage auras again when I have time. Seeing as this has been the main aura brought up so far.... I haven't seen any comments at all in the past about the other auras.
I may scale down molten shells shields to as that's simple enough. I like all the fluffy animals[img]http://i.imgur.com/mO8dR.png[\img]

Russell, I believe you can make the auras smaller without making them more subtle.
The best of both worlds, in my eyes, would be to scale down the diameter of player auras about one third, but making the aura itself look more fancy. The shear size of these things should not be what catches the player's eye. For example, why is the ground beneath my feet not burning when I stand still using the fire dmg aura? ;) Disregard witches, aquire currency. Last edited by dust7#2748 on Mar 25, 2012, 5:19:35 AM

good! i also think aura's are to much bright (sometimes hurting for the eyes) and high.
i would have liked more different color patern for them, some of them are really close in term of look and tones. i think they can be more frankly related to colour's stats (not only a bright light hue). nonetheless i really like your art style! I really love the new forum, is it you ? ... nothing

Certain auras need more detail. The ones I would pick out would be the increased accuracy one and the added damage ones. I wasnt exactly sure what to do for them though seeing as they do such a general thing

I really despise the solar system elemental auras. They look like baby toys.
Ideally, I would like to see the elemental auras represented by effects on weapons (flaming, frosted, or crackling). Next best would be flaming/frosted/crackling ground-level effects. Something subtle like leaving a short footprint-ish trail of elemental effects. Main point being not to obscure the enemies when 15 minions are in cluster-fk formation. offtopic: Might also be nice if choosing Avatar of Fire keystone added flames rising from the back/shoulders (think the chariot scene from The Hunger Games movie). |
