I'm leveling my witch now (lvl 48 in about 5 hours time, so no complaint).
I'm doing this one to figure out if this will be my NEXT league starter (maybe YES, depending on how she handles mapping). I already have a 89 Heiro storm brand, but i never thought to use Lightning Spire for bossing, that's pretty brilliant. Honestly, still not 100% sure about Hiero vs. Witch for storm brand, but I'll have both so I can judge for myself, but I'd love to hear why you think Witch is better :-) This is a very inexpensive build so far, I figure 3exa for a 'end game' level char maybe?

Cleared almost all content so far and am loving the build. Only thing left is Uber Atziri and I'm running into problems with the reflect clone. It seems like no matter where I place my brands I still tag the reflect bitch and instagib myself, even on normal atziri. I've been despawning my brands and pushing the phase with my lightning spire trap but that probably won't work for Uber. Besides respecing into paragon of calamity for the reflect immune anyone have any ideas?

Not the OP but, on the Hiero vs Elementalist debate.

Hierophant just doesn't give that much for a brand character.
The brand node gives

You can Cast an additional Brand
14% increased Brand Attachment range
Brand Recall has 30% increased Cooldown Recovery Speed
Enemies take 10% increased Damage for each of your Brands Attached to them

An additional brand and attachment range doesn't really affect anything gameplay wise, and doesn't help single target (Storm brand's weakness).
Cooldown recovery is nice, but with empower and + levels it refreshes quick enough for each pack anyway.
Enemies take 10% increased per brand is decent, but that's less than the effect an elementalist will get from shock with beacon of ruin. And beacon of ruin lets you chill enemies and use hypothermia on top.

The enhanced MoM is pretty nice, and probably the best bit, but you can get 7-8k ehp with elementalist anyway.
Taking the whole arcane surge line is an ok choice - free leech and ailment immunity. But keeping arcane surge up with brand recall isn't hard.

Hiero is probably a pretty smooth mapper, but will fall down on single target.

Respec to ele immune is your only option I think.
As you say you can just use traps for normal atziri, but you are likely to run out of traps for clone phases, and on heal phases you will probably have to run brands, which has the risk of leaving some up for the mirror clone.

It probably is doable with traps, if you don't mind dying a few times, or keep portalling out to refres.

Still not got round to making my multimod sceptre - hadn't realised some of the mods themselves are an ex each so need to get some more currency, and I burned a load trying to get a 21/20.
All my levelled storm brands failed so ended up buying more levelled ones to vaal. Definitely should have sold my clean ones and just bought a 21/20!
important gems all flipped to 20q now so levelling back up.
Did a red elder + guardians and shaper with unlevelled gems without a hitch.
I've got influence in place for uber elder now too, but I want my weapon upgrade first! Still need to enchant my new boots too.

I've got some unused gem slots. I might squeeze in cold snap with CWDT and/or put in a vaal RF.

Loving this build. I've been moving towards more pieces with less resists so it's making my crappy warlord's mark on hit ring kind of a weak spot.

I'd like to dump it but I don't quite understand the CWDT Warlord's Mark. I see that everyone is doing it but doesn't it basically never override the Elemental Weakness that HoT is attaching? I know HoT will be down during alot of boss fights, are we counting on Warlord's only on boss fights and just leaning on the .4% Amulet leech for the rest of the time?

Storm brand is just so fun! The chaining is just ridiculous especially in linear map layouts. Here's my current "budget" gear at the moment

DPS: 174.7k to 223.3k (27.8% increase)
Life: 8.4k (6.2k+2.2k Mana) to 6.7k (20% decrease)
