Ice Spear

I like it. It requires a type of play style to work well. Should be able to hit 1 mil dps while still having good defense. Just don't expect to see it on the tool tip.

Clear speed was better before but now it's a better boss killer which is more important. For clear speed just gem swap. I don't mind.

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but the interaction between the new Ice Spear and the new Snakepit is unfortunate. If the projectile chains while in the first form, it will still arm, but if it chains while in the second form, it reverts to the first form and doesn't re-arm.

I am trying this as a Deadeye with ricochet in early maps.

Pretty much unusable by itself, requires slapping on CWC/Totems which I really don't feel like is an improvement as someone who actually played the old ice spear.

Like I cannot express how bad this feels by itself I've been using it from about lvl 45 onwards as I generally like to level with my end game skill and it is the worst skill for general play I have ever used (and i've used most)

The only skill I can think of that is comparable is barrage but barrage has threshold jewels which make it fine for general clearing, you also don't gut your skill whenever anything gets into melee too. If your being chased by any fast monsters that get in your face good luck getting the space to actually arm them so they pierce.

I'm gonna try blasphemy proj weakness to deal with that and will report back if I think somethings different but this is legitimately the first skill thats making me heavily consider ditching my build.

I will give you money for a MTX of the old Ice Spear.

Also the pierce-jewel is a big life-saver. The skill feels much better with it.

For my assassin (perfect for crits) I combined it with with a projectile weakness blasphemy aura that helps piercing mobs close by and knocks them back so they are pushed into the armed range and there will be hit hard by the crits. Also Herald of ice is mendatory to get splash damage.

But I still don´t really understand bonechill? So is it usefull for attacks that have a high chill effect?

Right now, I'm in the middle ground.

I like the change to the casting, arming, and second form bonuses.

I dislike the absurdly high cost when using it as a main ability (not linked with CwC&Winter Orb). At a four link, with no unique items hiking up the price, I'm at 44-47 mana per cast. This is requiring either significant points into Mana pool size / Mana cost reduction, or becoming a flaskaholic to even contribute. On bosses, I need to swap out for two Mana flasks (or hybrids) or I'll run dry.

Is there something that I am doing wrong or an I simply S.O.L.?

Account name Hateborne, character Hateborne (for all those with Path of Building handy).

After testing it again with Cast While Channeling and Winter Orb, it is sustainable but it shouldn't require this combo to even use the spell. If it does, then it should simply be a channeling spell and be done with it.

I am going back to raw damage with my four link and going to just flask-chain as the damage is just too low otherwise.

Swordfish MTX is bugged and makes it classic Ice Spear skin. I like it! I would also buy the old skin when this is fixed.

That's a prenerf fort on a Colosseum map btw. I couldn't finish it because I had the invisible Jorgan bug. At the very beginning you can see his attack effect without him being there.
