Tencent has Invested in Grinding Gear Games
of course this is a great business decision - GGG hit the bullseye and will be very very wealthy for all their hard work.
flip side - it's china, and their phrasing of this thread title is already showing signs of damage control. thread should outright say "...bought majority stake" or something to that extent. tencent now OWNS GGG/PoE and GGG beat around that bush with this post. this game got boring for myself a while ago, but it's one more reason to not play IMO. i most definitely would NOT purchase another supporter pack from this point on. ॐ "Metal Gear!?!?!?" ॐ

On business standpoint yeah sure it might be a logical and sound move. But Tencent?
Nope. |

" So I feel like this is partially addressed at me and just wanted to clarify. I dont think that the "big pack Investors" leaving will fail, I actually think it will just evolve likely into a pay to play game- which I am fine with. Its like nearly every single start up ever. They start of with a small loyal group of investors who they charge very little to, slowly gain investment and expand their product/service and then sell it off to a bigger company who can help carry it to the next level. I think that a lot of people feel like buying supporter pack was a donation you gave to a nonprofit. GGG isnt a non profit, and I cant begin to know your motivation but you essentially paid them for a service and a product. If you no longer think they deserve pay for their work, thats your call but they are a business and will do whats right for their development. If you have an ethical issue, I get it and vote with your wallet. If you are making assumptions that this game is suddenly immediately worse, you need to take a deep breath and wait and see. Most of the time these things are win/win for most of the groups involved. rei |

I thought Bestiality was bad! And now this!
Mmm, Tencent, I reckon I'm outta here. Not happy about Chinese input. Or the data harvesting to follow. Of course, a nice little windfall, well deserved, for the developers. But afaiac: 'Bye GGG, it was nice... for a while... Eeeek! Last edited by Didulubix#4813 on May 21, 2018, 7:31:21 PM

not that GGG gave any reason to worry until now. but still - don't really like the idea. hope that doesn't mean game over. like the transparency. what will happen with poe, though, can only be revealed through time.

" Don’t expect to get rational responses. All you will get presenting logic like this is negative Nancy’s yelling “the sky is falling”. Usually these people are miserable in their lives and just like to complain. Misery loves company |

I will never buy a single supporter pack anymore.
Why? Because the business model was working for a independent company. Now you sold it. If you are going to face a real challenge, it has to be a real challenge. You can't accomplish anything without the possibility of failure. Last edited by Xeian#7129 on May 21, 2018, 7:43:07 PM
