Health and Mana globe alternative - photoshopped
Globes are CLASSSIC and easy (fast too) to read.
The Guild Wars 2 that will have competitive "e-sport'ish" PvP and have one of the best and most minimalistic UI's in genre uses health globe - guess why? For example biggest letdowns with Torchlight 1 was absence of UI Orbs and weak UI overall. I never get 100% used to Titan Quest top-screen horizontal bars too. Orbs must stay. Hide UI option may be (or may not - its nothing important. I even think that HnS screenshots LOOKS BETTER with orbs, UI and monster bar, etc...) implemented. I don't like those bars for reasons already posted, but I absolutely agree the globes and the rest of the UI are too intrusive and find it covering enemies constantly.
Shrink them down, give them some transparency, something. |

The globes are fine, it's the people constantly spamming chat with 7 lines of WTT nonsense that's the problem, trying to trade their shit that they should have vendored weeks ago.

Since i dont like watching other end of screen while i am fighting the current orb position isnt to cool for me.
Also for long range chars its better to make the corner empty due to them having the longest range ,so i would move the UI to center bottom and make it small. Watch out i am gonna use pro paint skills now! The white thing above character is da energy shield. |

Bad.
The shape of the orb changes when you run out of health. Bars just get smaller which is much harder to see in the corner of your eye. Median XL 2012 | Diablo 2 mod

You could have a configurable interface where you can choose the Health/mana indicator styles and even scale them.By doing it this way everyones happy(I should think).

No orbs ,No thanks!!!

I agreed. Orbs are classic and I think orbs should stay.
It's only my opinion. |

Orbs are pretty standard.
I wouldn't mind bars (both for you and enemies) on-screen though. |
