Stuck on a loading screen

At the moment, there is a problem with some instances becoming corrupted - This will prevent you loading the area again, and you'll never get past the loading screen.

There are a few ways to get around this, until we're able to find a better solution:

Switching servers - America to Europe, or back again. This is the only way to fix the problem if it happens in town.

Ctrl-Click an instance door, and create a new instance: This is the easiest way to solve the problem if it happens in the wild.

All instances close after being empty for 15 minutes, and at that point you'll be able to return to town. If a player is idling in town however, it can take quite a bit longer.

If you're getting the "Failed to Connect to Instance" message, rather than being stuck on a loading screen indefinitely, your router firewall may be blocking some ports in the game. Try allowing ports 32768-61000 in your router firewall settings, and see if this solves the problem.

This is happening a lot. It happened to me around 10x yesterday as I was switching between my various storage alts. I even tried another computer and it would happen.

This never happened before yesterday. You probably know this but just in case.
This doesn't appear to be happening anymore.
This still happens to me.
If i try to load up the character that is affected with the issue, i never get past the loading screen.

I can however load up another character (that is parked at another location), and then there are two options:

1. If you log out again and try to load the affected character, the issue will persist.

2. If you change the location of the second char, and then proceed with option 1, the issue vanishes and you can load up your other character again (past the loading screen).

Also, this issue seems to be related to another problem i am experiencing.
Every time i have problems with loading up a particular character, i will also have problems even starting the game up.

The game will get stuck on the first loading screen, even though the music from the login screen starts playing.
I can circumvent this by alt tabbing out twice.

The first alt tab out and back in will make the loadscreen go black instead (the music is still hearable), while the second alt tab out and back in makes the login screen appear.
(i was able to reproduce this consistently, over 10 times now).

After that i still have to fix the character that is affected by the corrupted location problem, otherwise the problem reoccurs the next time i start path of exile.

Yeah, I guess I have this. I'm stuck at Loading Forest Encampment. Managed to get past it once, ran some chaos and first town portal -> stuck again. Can't play whatsoever at the moment.

edit: managed to get in again, used a WP to mudflats to finish a trade and got stuck at the mudflats loading screen.

edit 2: starting a new character doesn't work either, I get stuck on the twilight strand loading screen. I have been playing frequently up until yesterday or so with no problems.

I'll pass this info on, see what the others can learn about it!
Balance & Design
This is my first day trying to play the game, I can create a character, but as soon as I load him, I see the load screen that says "Twilight Strand", and then I'm dead in the water. I hear music and characters in the background, but I cannot see gameplay. :( Hopefully I'll get to see this game

Edit: If I press the "p" button I get some skills screen, but I can't close out of it. Still cannot get into the game.

Edit: also there was some red text at the top of the screen before I got to this stage that said something about not being able to render water or something like that. Any help is appreciated I'd really like to give this game a try.

edit: added dxdiag info and screentshot

This happened to me the one time I got it to load town and tried to use a WP.
I had the same issue last night while in a party. After i selected to join their instance it hung up. I had to restart the client.
