"Veteran" Beta timer

mm thats not cool
The number of positions that matter? Or just the date of registration?
Well I joined 2 September last year but only have 4 forum posts. Not sure if that gives me a chance or not. The waiting is driving me nuts :(
@Dobster

You posted before the beta started which means your a veteran.
nice , the more people the better
2 people every 30 minutes is better than 1 every 15mins? do I have to understand that logic? that means that exactly nothing has changed except it LOOKS more. What about the 5 minute interval that was used at the beginning? will it ever come back? I hoped to have at least a small chance of entering the beta, but even that seems to have disappeared...

btw: as I assume the people checking the beta come from all over the world and play the game at different times - there will never be a stress test on the server with so few participants.

actually its gunna be same # of people
30min/2 = 15 min
I play sc2 at top 0.1%, D2 casually few years ago, Dota for 7 years real tryhard, casual league of legends.

I love my beta key! Got some feedback about quest direction, projectiles, UI, and a lot of compliments about the art style.

Yeah, but one of them will be random and the other's a guaranteed longtime supporter. As a union man, I fully understand and appreciate the concept of seniority, even if it's working against me because three days ago I had never heard of this game. C'est la vis, que sirrah, sirrah, and so on and so forth. Good luck, gentlemen, and may the mightiest warrior win.
I just joined yesterday and this is my first post so the veteran timer and 30 minute wait lowers my chances :(

I'm not complaining though, that's how it should be

Great implementation Chris! I think this is a wonderful idea that gives a more evenly distributed chance for all users.

Evenly distributed? You can make whatever ill advised comments you like about "fair" (for some incredibly biased definition of that word), but there is nothing "even" about it. Veterans have acquired a SUBSTANTIALLY better chance of getting in, and non-veterans have had their already abysmal chance effectively almost cut in half. How anyone could call that "even" is beyond me.

I tried explaining this in the live stream chat, and people, much to my dismay, seemed utterly incapable of grasping basic math, so let me lay it out.

Let's assume, for the sake of round numbers, that there are 50000 registered users. Let's further generously assume that 5000 of those are "veterans" (I suspect the actual number is probably substantially less). Let us finally assume that the much ballyhooed "TEN TIMES" chance for active forum members from yesterday was in fact not working at all (and still isn't), as was widely observed by the massive quantity of people with 0 posts and 1 login 1 minute after their account creation getting access, so we'll ignore that.

Prior to the vet counter, everyone had a 1 in 50000 chance every 15 minutes. After the vet counter, vets have a 1 in 5000 chance every 30 minutes, and non vets have a 1 in 45000 chance every 30 minutes, assuming that vets can't also be picked in the random. If they can, then vets get 2 chances every half hour (1 with much better odds), and the non-vets are still 1 in 50000, HALF as often. Vets have a 5 times better chance (10 times better odds, half as often), and non-vets have twice as bad a chance (same odds, more or less, half as often).

If the math is too much for you, here it is at it's simplest... there will still be 96 people per day given invites, exactly the same as the old system... except that now, 48 of those people are guaranteed to be vets, which means if you're not a vet, that's 48 slots, HALF the slots every day, that you are guaranteed to NOT get.

Add to this the tards spamming up account creation with multiple accounts, all of which (and all of which, going forward) will dilute the non-vet pool further, and the vets odds will continuously get better as more and more of them get picked, and non-vets odds will continuously get worse and worse.

Congratulations vets... I guess... but please, let's not use ridiculous concepts like "even" to describe this system. It is intentionally biased toward people who posted to these forums prior to Wednesday, and intentionally biased against people who aren't those people. The math is simple and does not lie.
