And about MS vs EC, I wasn't using any defensive ability until recently (as you can see my MS is only lv12). And using EC didn't even cross my mind, maybe I have misunderstood it's usage but isn't it an aoe-taunt also? So when shit is gonna hit the fan it doesn't sound appealing to use aoe-taunt on that situation, correct me if I'm wrong :)

And that chest....I spent maybe 15 chaos to get decent rolls on it (95% inc armor/es, 97hp, 64mp, 22% fireres), tried to exalt for trires...oh well.

I am very jelly of your armor regardless.

As to EC as a AOE taunt: I completely forgot about the taunt aspect! I've never noticed an increase in aggro, and I often use it in the middle of all the chaos. But you have me stumped now haha. I'll have to do some more comparisons.

If this is going to be an aura heavy build how do you feel about going off to the left to get Elemental Adaption and 2 of the reduced mana reservation nodes?

This would end up giving you a 20 (multiplicative with reduced mana support gem) decrease in mana reserved which may allow you to slip in even more auras, 20% (additive) on aura range, 6% max ele resist, then round it out to 119 (120 minus the one we missed for the 40 hp from oak) with 3 savant nodes.

You could also possibly swap out 2 of the savant nodes to get the NA capstone. Similarly you could also take all 3 points out of savant and the 6% ele resist node i picked up and go for the +15% ele resist (a gain of 9 ele resist for 90 int doesn't seem worth it to me though, but i could be wrong)

I actually think that might be a decent idea.

The problem I'm having is sockets. I don't think you could really support more than 8 while still having adequate links for minions and curses

I also like that idea but we are talking about 119 points build here, that means 15 more levels for me (lv99) and what I have understood with current maps going over lv93 is pretty much impossible.

A few comments:

From what I've seen curses aren't removed when you swap weapons, since we get hex master, ideally wouldn't we be able to put our curses on a trash weapon, swap to it, throw out our curses then swap back, I've not gotten to the point of maps yet (2 50s so far) but from what I've heard you don't burn through mobs that quickly so we wouldn't need to swap that often.

So, if you were to drop enduring cry, you could jam your curses into some off weapon, freeing up a 4 socket item. From there, you would need to move your auras from your 3 slot (as its being swapped) to your 4 slot as you will be swapping and won't want to have to recast them every time.

This also gives added leeway as right now you have 10 sockets (6 on chest 4 from say, boots) for auras (minus 2 for reduced mana cost) meaning you would only need a 5L chest to run 7 auras and could go further once you got the 6L (or you could get a 6 socket chest with 5L and toss your EC in the non linked socket)

This leaves a 3 slot open for a dps ability (enter: arc/spark)



On an entirely different note: How useful is inner force for this build anyways? Sure its a 30% buff, but in this build nearly all of our damage comes from minions, does inner force extend to our minions? Following the above scenario we could sub out the 3 from innerforce to get the shock buffs.


I'm also thinking from what I posted above as a build might be better served without those savant nodes and instead grace ones for the +30 dex as getting higher levels of grace will be a pain otherwise.

I assume it doesn't pass to your minions, but I personally wouldn't give up Inner Force.

I feel silly for asking this question, but alas, i'm farily new in open beta. That being said, i have a couple of questions about gems and their links.

Most importantly, i was under the impression that support gems had to be tied directly to a skill gem. In your chest piece you're using greater multiple projectiles in the first slow. I have assumed to this point, this gem, or any support gem in a first slot would be useless b/c it's supporting nothing. Likewise your second gem in your chest is a minion hp% support. Clearly since this is not mentioned in anyone's response i am mistaken. Is this unique to a summoner as we're not really 'casting' unless its a curse and therefore, can support that direct curse? IE basically i can put a minion hp% gem anywhere and it will apply?

Do you use enduring cry simply to get the temp immunity or does this buff apply to our minions?

Sorry in advance if this seems a bit noob to ask as i'm sure it is, but i'm always happy to learn or be directed to a different thread with in depth information if need be.
You are pretty close to the reduced mana reserved nodes. Could help with beefing your summons.

No worries! The game can be a little confusing at first, that's for sure.

In regards to gems, the order of gems doesn't matter. As long as the support gems are compatible with whatever skill gem (or gems) you have linked to them, they will apply. So in my chest piece, I have Raise Spectre, GMP, Minion Life, and Minion Damage. Those three support gems all work with Raise Spectre, so all of the bonuses apply. Just to illustrate the mechanics, I could replace GMP with Raise Zombie (if the slot was blue of course) and then both Zombies and Spectres would be getting the benefit of Minion Life and Minion Damage.

I chain Enduring Cry on sketchy maps where I'm worried about getting hit by attacks that will hit hard. I might replace it with Molten Shell as EC has a taunt mechanic, however I haven't decided whether or not the taunt mechanic is even dangerous or not. The minions seem to keep aggro pretty well.

Yeah, up a couple posts someone suggested that. It seems like a good idea to grab the one to the left of the skill tree along with Elemental Adaptation.
