I really have a problem with the LGBT term. The T is VERY different from the LGB. They shouldn't belong together imo.

I have transgender friends they wouldn't join the military during their transitional period. It's really too much drama to have a transgender person in the military while he or she is transitioning. It's extremely taxing on the mind and body. I recommend join the military and after you're done transition over to the opposite sex.

It can take years to fully complete the process. I just feel people who don't have Transgender friends or are aware of the changes would have a valid opinion. Serve then transition... Simple. The problem is when you get called back on duty as the opposite sex. Would you be dishonorably discharged because you transitioned over to the opposite sex?

There's nothing wrong with being transgender and in the military but I HIGHLY doubt you will be in the right state of mind to perform at 100%. Therefore transgender individuals become too expensive to train and mentally taxing.

So what's my stance... As someone who is LGBT advocate, volunteer and have friends who are transgender, unless you are completely transitioned and don't rely on hormones anymore you shouldn't even think about joining the military. The transgender who say they were in the military, WERE IN THE MILITARY BEFORE switching over so their point is mute.
