Donald Trump and US politics
I find the feud between Amash and Trump fascinating. Amash is one of the best politicians by vote record, nearly on a Rand/Ron Paul level... Yet he is an adamant NeverTrumper. The only thing socialist about Amash is perhaps a deep-seated and irrational wariness of billionaires.

Heh...
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" I'm not sure if you are talking about me or the video, just to be clear I was talking about the NRA. They will fan the flames of division if that means more guns will be sold. |

" The very fact that US somehow needs 17 "intel" agencies, is humorous... Talk about inefficeint government. Last year in Syria there was an instance, when two "moderate islamist" groups, both sponsored by US, started to fight each other over turf & loot. The funny thing was that one was sponsored by the Pentagon, the other by CIA, as separate programs. US was in a proxy war with itself, lol :)) The lying corporate media (CNN, NYT, etc.) all have bloody hands. They've helped to realize all the past wars, by perpetuating lies and propaganda. The Russia thing is a non-news, CNN and others simply know that there are many thirsty liberals who would drink from their cesspit, as long as it gives a tiny hope. Tastes like corporate urine, but its all we got :) E: Basically, Trump is a hot marketing niche for the dying legacy media right now. It sells. Which should be filed under God Emperor creating jobs ;) When night falls She cloaks the world In impenetrable darkness Last edited by morbo#1824 on Jul 1, 2017, 2:19:28 AM

"The NRA isn't an association of gun sellers. Co-opted by them? Yeah, I think that's fair. There is, or at least should be, a distinction between news and advertising. People whose job it is to market guns (or emergency food rations, etc) are inclined to point to the chance that the end could very well be high, civilization fall apart, martial law instated, etc. And as long as they're relatively open about what their job is, and correspondingly what their bias is, I don't have a problem with them making such arguments in the public sphere. The problems start to begin when advertisements get disguised more thoroughly as news. And if the NRA had a much more vague name and called itself a think tank instead of a gun owners' association, well, that would be worrying. Or if self-proclaimed "impartial" media outlets reported NRA press releases copypasta as if they were real news, without clearly attributing the source. (I don't have issue with media outlets that are upfront about their biases.) But they're the National fucking Rifle Association. Of course they want people to buy guns. " They are maligning a group of people to do so man... Imagine that instead of doing what they did, it was a video directed to muslims instilling fear of Donald Trump and conservatives. Imagine a gun magazine telling people "Donald Trump and his supporters will round you up, what are you going to do? Have you heard that the amount of hate crimes increased this year? What are you going to do? Join us, we will fight this together!" If their argument was "You don't know when you will need and Yadda Yadda", IMO it would be ok, but they are painting a target at the back of other people. " I'm condemning the means. |

"Sounds mostly like speculation about the future, which is fair game. If hate crime statistics hadn't risen that year, that would be a near-lie, but technically it's a question, not a statement. Fair advertising. It's worth noting that, normally, stating predictions with an air of certainty and being horribly wrong about them damages one's credibility. For example, after Nov 8th 2016, I'm confused why anyone would trust CNN's predictions regarding the Georgia special election. " I'm appalled(not really). |

NRA selling guns with scaremongering = appalling
Global warming activists selling you governmental programs with doomsday scenarios = good strategy One is a voluntary exchange, the other is forced on you. Hey, is Al Gore still living in a beachfront multi-million villa? Doesn't he fear drowning in the rising sea levels? When night falls

" One vilifies fossil fuel, the other vilifies law abiding citizens. I could go on in this discussion but I think that point alone is enough. I won't stray from the topic any further. |
