Something I've been thinking about lately...

Terrorism is the use of violence against a tiny fraction of a social group (or groups) with the intent to intimidate, or effect of intimidating, the group (or groups) in general. It is different from simple mass violence in that it sends, and possibly is trying to send, a message, or more specifically a threat, to people not present at the attack.

I would be inclined to differentiate between intent and effect here. I would classify terrorism with the full intent of intimidating a population as first-degree terrorism; a violent act with intent limited to harming the direct victims, but that is reasonably viewed as a threat against the general population, would instead be classified by me as second-degree terrorism. Both are heinous crimes, but first-degree terrorism is worse.

For example, consider the recent shooting of Representative Scalise by James Hodgkinson. Hodgkinson asked if the people there were the Democrat or Republican team, then began shooting at all players, which seems in line with first-degree terrorism. However, if he had asked the same question, received the same response, and only shot at Scalise (and anyone attempting to impede his escape), then that could be in line with second-degree terrorism; perhaps his intent would have been limited to the assassination of Scalise for real or imagined crimes, without the intent of terrorizing Republican Congresspeople in general.

In the similar way, reports at this time point to first-degree terrorism with the Finsbury Park Mosque attack; the perpetrator allegedly yelled "kill all Muslims" as he was subdued. If such words were captured on video I'd appreciate a link. I'd like to rule out second-degree terrorism in this case.

You don't need a reason to kill your enemies, just find a excuse. Pick and choose your religious beliefs, distort it if it doesn't fit into what you believe. Anybody can do that. So many apostates, heretics and infidels in this world, why do they target you? Do people really think these form of terrorist attacks are religious not political? 9/11 because of religion, hell no it is shitty politics. Religion is just used as a tool to motivate people to do such nonsense.

Indeed they don t need religion to kill however they don t distort anything either.

the violence is written over those 3 monotheist books but one of those books have their god actually condemning violence in the end of it while the 2 others stop with violence as main tool to use.

Don t forget that one of those book supposedly give truth in the last pages written on a subject and this same book ask for violence and conquest in those last pages given to follow.

I think any religion in particular the 3 monotheist faith are dangerous tools full of stupid stuff and I condemn orthodox jew terrorist and christian terrorist the same way. However there is some blindness toward what is really in the Coran. It is not a peace message, the last orders of the prophet is about conquest and killing infidels. Last words that are supposedly reference to follow since last written.

Hence the Coran is a more dangerous book than the bible or the tora and should be criticized for what it is, a call for murdering infidels, jews, pagans and atheists.
