Upcoming Content Releases

Been reading a lot of people that seem to be upset about cruel difficulty. I think they missed previous news posts that GGG intends to actually remove Cruel altogether and streamline the game more. They've already removed extra, unnecessary areas from A4 (like Kaom's Path) as a signal that they plan to head in this direction.

So relax people, they've heard you. Cruel is going to go bye-bye.

And I'm hoping when they say "significant buffs to 1h weapons" they're not just talking about increasing by 5-6% and calling it a day. Daggers are arguably the most OP 1h weapon in the game currently thanks to crit (with some exceptions like Cospri's Malice), and I'm curious to see how they intend to buff weapons in comparison to it. I would love to see rapiers and 1h swords in general get some real love. 1h axes would also be nice to see some buffs to as well, because I can't think of too many OP 1h axes in the game right now. But any significant buffs to base damage for daggers would exacerbate the dominance of daggers currently. The skill tree as is, is far too rewarding for people that choose daggers over other one-handers. I will say that HoWA gave claws some good and much needed love, but I feel it would be great if the tree did more to reward choosing other one handed weapons besides daggers.

Main issues with the game for me currently is life vs ES, trading, immunities, and of course servers struggling in an "arms race" of sorts to keep up with the influx of new players. That last one is a "good" problem to have, but it's still a problem.

what about normal then cruel then maps(merciless)

next league perandus with some extras?
my english sux.

A new challenge league. We don't want to spoil what it is yet, but it's certainly appropriate for the last league before the new era of 3.0.0.

But it IS going to be purple, right? :P

don't you think you have enough content to maybe just play it twice?

Yes? They confirmed that ages ago.

Oh, one more thing.

As a person that can spend little time on gaming, I would LOVE to be able to respec passive points (including ascendancys) without the need of spending currency / creating a new toon. I know that regret orbs are part of the economy, so it is impossible to change it ad hoc, but this would be an absolutely wonderful change for people with limited time, allowing to explore the game and builds with ease, and without the sensation of being punished by the need of investing so much time in new toons.
@ GGG - maybe you guys could introduce passive respec mechanics in standard mode, and keep the current modus vivendi in leagues? Would be fantastic!

Cheers!

They allways give us full respec when significant balanced changes arrive so w8 till 2.6 is released.

Loving the "flexibility" from GGG lately, "next month" "next week" "maybe, some day..."
<sarcasm> You guys pass so much confidence with said "flexibility" </sarcasm>

Hi Welcome to the hobby of online video games, if this is your first you might want to know that your expectations of things happening on strict schedules is naive to the point where it can literally be described as cute.

If this isn't your first online game then well... there are other words to describe your expectations.

Truly there needs to be an upvote button.

3.0 and the Beta are going to suck the hype out of the second half of 2.6 league. Lets hope the 2.6 league's design is solid enough to keep people engaged. I am hoping its something interesting mechanically like tempest/warbands and not another free chest/loot explosion like most of the leagues have been lately where theyre profitable as hell but dull by design.
Buy the ticket, take the ride.

WHERE ARE THE TRADE UPDATES? DO YOU SEE THESE GOLD FARMERS RUINING YOUR GAME?!

Automated trading like in game auction houses just make it easier for gold farmers to manipulate prices and automatically snipe low priced items for resale. Whatever changes you are imagining are NOT going to make gold farmers go away. There's only one way to do that*. It's not that I don't think some changes are in order either. I love the often floated idea of having a NPC in my HO for AFK trades. But MMO's with sophisticated trading systems are rife with gold sellers. Often far worse than POE. Automated buying and relisting of low priced items is super easy with an AH, much harder with POE until they make an AI smart enough to decipher "sec lab" or "gimma a few only 1 port left" and the like.

* Allow players to trade at least some form of MTX to each other in game, see for example EvE online, Dungeons & Dragons online, LOTRO and many others that have made this move and undercut the market reducing gold farmer spam significantly.

I need just one word to refute everything you puked out there

WRONG
since I have no hope for significant game design improvements in this game I am officially done with Path of Exile. done for good
I will wait ACT 6, revision 4.0.x I think it will be the best one :-)

to be honest. considering 3.0 is not too far away, the changes in 2.6 going to suck.
its probably going to be another small and lame unsuccsesful balance try.
that would leave all problems still in game. beause they try focus on main changes in 3.0.
so im going to say that probably half of the players are not even going to start the new leauge becuase game is not wow now. and will skip 1 league .
and i believe they are making these small changes now because they know if they dont make any changes before 3.0, no one is going to play new league now. so its a silly lame try to save that league and buy some more time to work on 3.0 while they are probably going to rebalance in 3.0.

so yeah it cant take the hype from that league because theres no hype in the first place.
