It's Shield Charge EE (-50% fire) THEN proc Vortex wich in turn procs 2 things: ignite and EE. Ignite will take(and keep for the whole duration) the initial -50% fire resistance then procs the EE. If Vortex doen't crit ... the dmg will be indeed lower, once it crits monsters will melt.

Ignites will NOT "take" the -50% fire res. The vortex hit will. However, because base ignite dps = 0.2 x vortex hit, the bigger the vortex hit, the higher the ignite dps.

The ignite dps will be indeed mitigated, for its whole duration, by +25% fire res proc'ed by the vortex hit (unless you proc EE again), but the damage reduction is smaller than the damage increase boosted by the -50% fire res on initial hit.

So bigger buff + smaller nerf = still buff. (This is the case no matter whether your vortex crit or not, as long as it does inflict ignite).

I am still confused with how the elemental equilibrium nod actually works in-game. Is it a good idea to use a dagger with + lightning dmg to spells?

Also, I am only getting 17000 dps (75% critical strike chance) with all 7 power charges and an ice golem, and 10k es with discipline and 1 Energy From Within unique jewel. I am still planning to change my dagger and my shield but can anyone give an advice how should I improve my gear?

But what about defense? Is it Tanky? Or do i always need to be careful?

what do you guys think of using a Scold's Bridle? You get up to 100% increased spell damage which is insane. With walk the aether you don't spend mana so no damage taken. You will potentially lose 300 flat ES though (20% quality Scold's Bridle has only 109 ES).

i have lost over 1000 es (from 10.300 to 8900) but dps ... :D
