[2.5] Burning Vortex Build - Double Degen Tank Elementalist - Shaper Viable - HC or SC

Hello, Im gonna try this build in HC. Thanks for this detailed guide, I played vortex last league but without a guide and just followed ziggyD's tree and I totally loved it. So thank you for making a vortex guide which is also tanky, looking forward to play it!

One question: armor and energy shield is what we prioritize right? :)

What do you think about adding a Consuming Dark to get some poison on hit and change a little bit the tree to get increased chaos damage? Maybe add an Added Chaos gem. IDK!

I've read that area damage double dips on poison damage as well.

Hey yeah Armour/Evasion and Energy Shield are all a benefit to this build since we have Iron Reflexes, I also hope you enjoy the build :D

I haven't tried a poison variation because I think without 100% conversion for this type of build the benefit would be pretty low. A huge portion of my damage come's from fire penetration from different sources such as Gem, Ascendancy and Passive point's. I do think a poison version is viable I'm just not convinced it would be a huge benefit unless I planned on being CI or a low life variation.

2 questions

Where is the lighting damage that you are shocking with? Orb of storms enough to apply shock?

With dory an is catalyst there is no way to regeneration ES aside from standing around and not getting hit. Without dark seer is it even important to run discipline or focus on ES at all?

Hey the shock is applied by my ascendancy passive "Shaper of Desolation", this let's all of my damage shock 40% of the time.

If you aren't running a Dark Seer sceptre then focusing on ES or running Discipline isn't really required, but still nice for some boss fight's and when big hit's come.

It seems like in boss fights you still would be getting hit enough that you would rarely recover ES after getting it all taken down during initial hits.

Also do you think this build is viable for atziri, uber atziri, and/or shaper?
