When crafting the bow, does ilvl matter?

Any chance of a video showing off some gameplay? I know it'll look like any other ED build, I just find DPS numbers hard to picture in my head. |

I've just started a similar build. I thought I was being original, but quite glad you have done a guide for it, not played ED before so some hints really helps. Only in 20's atm, still playing my first char of league mostly to try and get a bit more currency and finish levelling gems. Levelling with firestorm atm, will switch to ED about lvl 40 (Can use my bow then). Couple of thoughts/questions - I really want to roll a +1 bow, ideally I'd use empower over slower proj which makes it even more important. I'm thinking maybe use tier 6/7 essences to make the rolling a bit cheaper (+1 gems being a lot more damage than an extra 10/20% inc spell damage). Either get lucky and roll outright, or if we can get a 2 prefix, 2 suffix roll, could craft 'cannot roll attack mods' and exalt. I think that should work? I've just got a tier 6 rolled one at the moment so I can start using at lvl 40 (I have a lvl 28 6l bow). I might try 1 deafening - use it until I get empower levelled anyway, plus I might get lucky! - Suggestion from my guildmate - Bated Breath as belt choice, if I can manage to cap resists without a rare. Little bit of damage, decent ES and most importantly offsets the es regen penalty of soul strike. - Bow obviously means no consuming dark. Is it going to be worth swapping in poison gem for rapid decay on tanky bosses? - As we are using a bow anyway, might be worth running frenzy for bosses? 3 quick shots for 15% more damage? Would link with faster attacks and blink arrow, although squeezing in 3 greens could be annoying. |

Other thing to try might be to take the malediction node, even before/without going low life, and use the witchfire brew flask (I'm using one for my RF totem build at the moment).
Can situationally run vulnerability then, plus the increased DoT - and it's a stibnite for defense. Only issue might be the range on it (not much AOE, not sure if you get the bonus blasphemy AOE), and you can't have it up all of the time. |

Ideally we would want a 1 prefix 3 suffix roll when we use our Essence of Woe, because we want to roll the Leo damage over time mod. This would require more Meta crafting but can be amazing. Bated Breath would be a good option, I just couldn't use it at the moment because of strength requirements. Yes, Frenzy will be a great addition with faster attacks and blink arrow. We would need a EV/ES boots, because we get huge es from our helm and now we have spell damage gloves. Or we can just roll 3 green with Vorici. I havn't tried that flask yet, although I really should and with Malediction this could work out very well until we have +1 Eye of Chayula. Great suggestions, thank you! Dbum IGN @Dbum

I'm trying to come up with a gem disposition for Low Life, and I always end up short for gems considering movement skill and the wither totem.
So far this is what I have got considering a 20% reserved aura discount in the tree: - bow: Essence Drain + Void Manipulation + Controlled Destruction + Pierce + Rapid Decay + Empower - chest: Blasphemy + Blood magic (20) + Discipline + Vulnerability + Enlighten (4) / Blink arrow (96% life reserved) - head (vertex): Enfeeble + blasphemy + enhance + Temporal Chains (68% mana reserved) - gloves: Contagion + Wither + Increased Area of Effect + Faster Casting - boots: Cast when Damage Taken + Immortal Call + Increased Duration + Vaal discipline Considering this for my standard build, where I have a 21 Essence Drain and a 4 empower, in a +1 gem bow, it would end up being a 26 level Essence Drain (no spell damage in the bow, unfortunately, but I think this would help compensate). The thing is, the wither totem is that important? Or is it ok to self cast? I obviously have never used this spell. If anything I can imagine putting in the gloves like this: - gloves: Contagion + AoE or FC / Wither + Spell Totem There could be an alternative approach, going Heretic Veil, but with a minimum of 30% reservation in tree, wich would mean going to the templar aura bundle: - bow and boots would be same setup - chest: discipline + blasphemy + vulnerability + artic armour / spell totem + wither (68% mana reserved) - head: blood magic (20) + enfeeble + TC + Enhance (92% life reservation) - gloves: contagion + wither + iaoe / blink arrow without artic armour we could go 50% mana reserved and in the chest 3L+3L and fit contagion there: - chest: discipline + blasphemy + vulnerability / contagion + wither + iaoe (50% mana reserved) - head (heretic veil): blood magic (20) + enfeeble + TC + Enhance (92% life reservation) - gloves: spell totem + wither / blink arrow + Faster Attacks or Faster projectiles, or a 3rd link for the totem (iaoe?) |
