There's no such situation happened before, this is "must" process based on the law for protecting all consumers. The game company has to give the police(the 9th Investigation Brigade)total digital data of hacked acc(that reporter) including the history of his game-playing that the court will investigate the data to find the right IP owner and "person"(hackers/scammers). But, if hackers are from foreign, they will have no way to get them caught;however, they still mandate the game company must restore hacked acc's lose back after the sufficient check of all his history of gameplaying.
I just got hacked too. I don't know exactly when since I've been away for a month or so.
I logged in today to play with my bro and cousin to find my characters and stash wiped completely empty, for the most part. The e-mail for the account wasn't changed, so I'm curious to know how this happened. I had a pretty complicated password and I don't have or use viruses or 3rd party software of any kind or visit odd websites or fan sites for this game.

Good luck to this game.

I don't know man.

99.99% of these hacked accounts must be,

1) ***** Visited malicious sites that RMT site set trap all over the segregated target domains.

2) ***** Registering on fansite/forums that are legit but are hacked silently. These sites may have pathetic security for example emails and passwords are not hashed and these users use the same email and password for poe too.

3) ********** Using old game password and same email.

4) *** Phishing attacks.

5) ** Trojan.

6) * Sharing your account and pw with a 'friend'.

7) ******************* Playing PoE in a lanshop (least likely because majority played at home).

8) ****************************** Email does not have two factor authentication activated and got compromised.

9) ************************************** Using dictionary words or words relevant to user's actual identity and got brute forced.

10) 0.0000001% Your pet cat trolled you. And this is a lot higher chance that Grinding Gears is actually in fault.

11) List goes on and on.. this is the song that doesn't end... (:

P.S
Anything can be hacked on the internet, what makes you think it is always the provider's fault when the freaking list of vulnerabilities are longer than the list of records in the guinness world record?

Respect the Internet. It is like respecting the jungle if you are living in the wild. Be vigilant or get consumed.

Last but not least, still nevertheless I really felt sorry to you people because I was once a victim in WoW too. I know how you feel.

Over the weekend our servers were subject to a brute force attack in an attempt to guess login details for Path of Exile.

The attacker used a database of 2,257,699 unique email addresses and attempted 20,396,984 times to log into Path of Exile using these email addresses and guessed passwords.

Of the email addresses that were used, only 191 actually corresponded to Path of Exile accounts.

Unfortunately the attacker successfully guessed the passwords of 16 user accounts, 1 of which had access to the Path of Exile beta.

We have emailed the 16 accounts in question informing them that their account has been compromised, and that they need to change their password to something more secure.

While we had always intended to add a login attempt limit to our login servers, we had not yet implemented one and this is why the attacker was able to make so many attempts within such a short period of time.

We will be making the following changes in response to this incident:

1) We will be adding a limit on the number of login attempts that are allowed from a single IP address within a given time frame. We will also restrict login attempts to a particular account within a given time frame.

2) We will be adding the ability to lock an account until the password has been changed in the case that we suspect that an account has been compromised in the future.

We take the security of your account very seriously and as such we take many precautions such as not saving your passwords in clear text in our databases but ultimately your account is only as secure as your password. We would advise everyone to reconsider how strong their password is, and change any weak passwords to stronger ones.
My Acc got hacked too, all chars empty. I play other games and never had problems there. I use latest windows updates, drivers and security.
I play online since 2000 and never had a password stolen from me.

Is it possible to rollback my acc or is it all lost?

No

None

3) ********** Using old game password and same email.

Nope

4) *** Phishing attacks.

None

5) ** Trojan.

Nothing detected and no signs

6) * Sharing your account and pw with a 'friend'.

No-one

7) ******************* Playing PoE in a lanshop (least likely because majority played at home).

Nope

8) ****************************** Email does not have two factor authentication activated and got compromised.

It does not, but no other evidence email was compromised (but of all the factors this is still the most likely)

9) ************************************** Using dictionary words or words relevant to user's actual identity and got brute forced.

Nope

10) 0.0000001% Your pet cat trolled you. And this is a lot higher chance that Grinding Gears is actually in fault.

Don't have a Cat

P.S
Anything can be hacked on the internet, what makes you think it is always the provider's fault when the freaking list of vulnerabilities are longer than the list of records in the guinness world record?

I understand that, but the fact that for me (and many others here it seems) this is my first hacked experience, when I have been playing many other online games over several years, leads me to conclude that the problem lies with this game's security.

Last but not least, still nevertheless I really felt sorry to you people because I was once a victim in WoW too. I know how you feel.

Thank you, I'm not too bothered with the loss itself, but I am annoyed this can happen so easily, and it must be particularly hard for some people who have invested a lot more time than I did, and even real cash.
Sorry.
