Would you recommend the build for a CI starter?

Im thinking of it that it would be worth the experience if I keep the investment low.

What do you think about adding Voidbringers? Could put the VRF setup in there as well.
Would drop crit chance somewhere else for them obviously.

Flasks would be as you mentioned jade flask, generic resist flasks, and granite/basalt i guess?

ALso do you just actively dodge stuff or do you just keep moving without going into melee range to make up for the lack of physical damage reduction?

Thanks again

Hardcore or no? If HC I'd recommend an Occultist build for someone who has never played CI before, far more forgiving.

Voidbringers are totally unecessary and the downside is a problem that you need to spend more tree points on to solve; two elreon rings are used to avoid needing to spec a lot of mana/regen on the tree which saves a LOT of points. Even with these you will still not be able to channel FB indefinitely, however it's more than enough once you factor in mana gained on kill from Ass Mark and mana leech from the boot enchant.

I do run No Regen maps with this build as shown. An extra +1 level for Vaal RF isn't particularly useful, and if you add another 80% mana req to your skills I think it might break the balance and you'd need to spec into mana/manaregen nodes. Not that this is impossible to handle, but you'd be looking at 5 or so points for Dreamer and Deep Thoughts. To me this negates the purpose of using VB as I'd rather spec into more ES%/dmg/critmulti. Keep in mind that ANOTHER 50% cc and 45% multi is available for 6 points from the tree I linked above... Additionally, there is an end game configuration I'm mulling over involving speccing some mana reservation nodes, dual curse, and running flam+ass mark on blas along with disc. It's a mid 90's kind of tree, and there would be absolutely no room to move with mana cost at that point.

Ideal flasks would be jade, basalt, ruby, quicksilver, and a silver or sulphur. A stibnite wouldn't be a bad idea either in place of the silver/sulphur. I'd rather run a ruby than a taste of hate even if I had one.

With CI the biggest adjustment you need to make is, you have no way to panic heal with flasks; you instead need to anticipate things a little earlier and go in with defensive flasks up or apply them when you sense things are getting a bit hot. This build does leech ES fairly strongly even with only 0.7% LL on FB, but you aren't dealing damage in a constant stream so it is not suitable for facetanking IMHO, more so to top you off if you get hit by a mob you just destroyed.

If you are used to using instant life flasks a lot, it will take some getting used to. In terms of defensive layer, this build relies upon evasion and blind ONLY. This is very effective mind you, because the blind is automatically applied to monsters that get up close; generally this is the biggest threat to the build as noted prior.
@BeerPact
Dropped Disc and run dual curse: https://secure.twitch.tv/mcm375/v/75712762

Pretty good.

Would be best with Shavs and LL however to run Disc as well.

Nice gear.. try added lightning instead of faster casting. You will always shock.

Assassinate ascendency point (the 7th/8th, map lab) is fairly useful for parties.

Check out my char on my profile for current state.

I've since switched to dual curse (Flam + Ass Mark), and a doryani's belt along with a few misc upgrades. Dropping disc means hovering just shy of 9k ES at level 90. Would prefer more. For you in PSC, go balls to the wall dmg.

Best way to calc FB damage is by looking at tooltip "combined spell damage", average it, multiply it by your crit multi % (with powercharges up + 40% for full life) and that's your single stack FB damage. Multiply that by # of stacks for indicative hit damage.

Best way to calc Vaal RF damage is as shown in the video I added to the OP, where you test leech amounts with a fixed small % leech like 0.2% on ammy or belt vs a monster with known zero fire resist (e.g., skeleton archer from ledge.) From this you can observe the exact damage you are dealing.

Nice fucking rings btw.

Muir using Thundefist could be a cheap 5L to your version.

Fucking great idea!
@BeerPact
Hi

I got the character to LV 75 in PHC and so far it's a lot of fun.

This is what I've been able to acquire so far:

Spoiler

I still have to roll 3 red on the gloves. Also still have to decide if I want to keep Enduring Cry for the setup later.

Bosses just become a walk by kill with vaal righteous fire :D
(Also got lucky today with the helmet enchant)

For flask atm I'm running jade,basalt,quicksilver,silver and ruby.

Reflect & Porcupines were the scariest so far, also I'm still adapting to the CI playstyle. It's a lot of fun tho and I hope i can push this build to 90!

Cheers

I'd recommend switching to INC AOE instead of Faster Casting, and FIRE PEN instead of Increased Critical Strikes.

The AOE "double dips" so to speak with your prolif radius, and firepen will more than make up for lower stack counts vs the same time casting using FC. This gives your flameblast a wider "range" of damage potential e.g., more situational flexibility.

Porcupines are a total shit though.. for sure.
@BeerPact
Pyre can help against maps with Porcupines.
