UPDATE:

I respecced to Assassin Ascendancy and I picked up a few new pieces of gear. I have to say, I'm absolutely LOVING this build. The only map mod I can't do is ELE reflect, obviously, but everything else seems to be a breeze.

I still feel a little light in the health department, but most of my gear has low life rolls. As I upgrade my gear I should feel a bit tankier.

I still don't like using Southbound gloves. They bring me to about 4,6xx health, but as I said before, I hate leaving 1hp monsters behind. So still using Maligro's at the moment.

Current stats:
4,301 health
12,166 no frenzy or power charge
24,160 damage with frenzy and power charges
28,338 damage with frenzy/power and ancestral warchief

%86.86 critical strike chance
%90 chance to hit

How is it that you have such high crit chance? I feel like I have really good gear and I'm only around 65% with 5 power charges. Thanks for any response!

Yes, I have a 20/20 right now on my 6L oro's. Any other recommendations? I've got my gear linked below and all of the passive crit nodes you suggest.

Also, I have a Kaom's Heart, but I don't know if a great, high evasion chest would be better. With my current gear I only have 28% evasion chance. Is Kaom's still considered the best-in-slot because of the hp?

Here is my current gear.

I would use the Southbound gloves, but I don't feel that my crit chance is high enough to reliably freeze and kill enough enemies. Also, I was extreeeemely lucky to get that corruption on my darkray boots when I vaaled them, but I realized I should have enchanted them first. Assuming capped resistances, are darkrays considered a better option than Atziri's Step?

Sorry for all the questions, and thanks again. This is my first shadow build ever and I've never built with crit before either.

You're right, my bad - i forgot to mention them:

On Jewels you should mainly look for Crit Multi/Crit Multi with Two Handed Melee Weapons, Melee Damage and Life.
Besides that, you'll probably want to get some Elemental Resistances there to make it easier to cap your Resistances.

Other good mods include:

Fire Damage
Crit chance in all variations: Global/Two Handed Crit chance/Melee Crit/Crit&Accuracy
Increased Accuracy
Attack Speed/Two Handed Attack Speed
Chance to Ignite & Ignite Duration

[Edit:] Added Jewel Section to the guide.

I am assuming you do have all the Ascendancy Passives, most importantly Deadly Infusion...?
My Crit with power Charges (and no other crit items besides one Diamon Ring) is 77%. On top of this we have Assassin's Mark for another 9%, taking us to 86% Crit chance. And then there's the Ice Golem... In my experience this is more than enough.
I am not sure why you are lacking those 10%, but all in all your 65% should actually still work just fine - maybe use a Diamond Flask for more consistency.

I do think that Kaom's is the best choice. The combination of a huge flat hp and Fire damage (our primary damage type) is just very good. This being said there are other options that can work: Belly of the Beast, Kintsugi, Daresso's Defiance or, as you mentioned, a good rare Evasion chest are viable options. With a 100hp chest you'll be sitting at around 5k life - to me that does seem a bit low for a char that has to go into melee range. So I prefer having the life pool over evasion and especially in combination with Southbound gloves (%increased hp) it makes sense to stack flat hp in order to get more out of the %- based increase.

BTW: With a 6L chest i would consider either using a 6L Warchief totem or a dual Herald - dual curse on hit setup (with Windscream boots for dual cursing).

We can use Southbound Gloves for two reasons: Yes we do shatter most normal & blue packs, but we also Ignite them and Southbounds do not prevent an Ignite (burning damage) from killing enemies. So we have these two possibilities to kill an enemy: We only have to either Ignite OR shatter them - and usually both things happen. Don't forget that besides our crit chance, we get 20% chance to ignite from Oro's Sacrifice. Because of that, Southbounds work very well in this build.

There are a handful of enemies that cannot be ignited in the game, Atziri being one example. In these cases i just bring them down to low or 1 hp and unequip southbounds for the killing blow.

Concerning Boots:
I can't really say which would be better: Darkrays or Atziri's Step. I think it's situational. For general Mapping i would probably prefer Darkrays... the shorter frenzy charge duration sometimes annoys me, but in a map it's not hard to keep charges up anyway. For something like the Atziri fight on the other hand, you'd want the life and Spell Dodge from Atziri's Step.
So in general it comes down to a matter of taste and getting used to the short frenzy charge duration.

Thank you for the extremely detailed response! I am out of town and posting from mobile, but I will check everything out tomorrow night when I play again.

I do have deadly infusion. Here is my passive tree in case you wanted to take a look.

Well, apparently I am not so smart. I was basing my critical strike chance off of the default attack tooltip and not off of my flicker strike tooltip. I am actually at 87.04% crit chance with my 5 power charges up. Mystery solved!
So what did you guys use to level before being able to use flicker strike?

You can basically level with any spell you like during the early levels, since we pick up quite a bit of ele damage in the shadow starting area of the passive tree. So all your well known leveling spells will work just fine. I think at level 56 you can start to use Terminus est and already go full Flicker Strike. The damage is not great since Terminus is phys based, but with a couple of Heralds or the Anger aura you should be ok. If your crit is still too low to gain infinite Frenzy charges (f.e. you haven't picked up Deadly Infusion yet), then you'll need some single target skill - 4L should be enough.

If you prefer to level attack damage-based all the way through, then probably Earthquake and Lascerate are great skills at the moment, but honestly i am not sure there:)
