[2.2]The Supreme Gentleman's Oro's Elementalist with VMS [videos coming soon]

Introduction:

Flicker has one, if not the best, clear speed of builds due to its nature of moving while dealing damage. However, since dagger flicker really sucks since the blood rage nerf, we are left with Oro's. The main drawback with Oro's flicker is that the single target damage is lacking. Thus, we add vaal molten shell with Scold's Bridle, which has really stupid damage but bad mobility. These two abilities synergize, giving you a very mobile pack destroyer that does enough damage to melt bosses.

More coming soon!

Pros:
+Extremely fast clear speed, better than those mirror wand clear speeds due to the movement advantage of flicker, the clearing of burn prolif, and the damage of vaal molten shell (VMS)
+Relatively cheap and flexible (a scold's and 1c gear in other slots is all you need to start)
+Can do T15 maps and atziri (haven't tried uber yet but don't think it's worth the effort with this build)
+Easy to level into this build

Cons
-Somewhat squishy, 4.5k hp is on the low end but we do have mitigation
-Has trouble with certain map mods
-Relatively momentum based due to frenzy charges, vaal molten shell and elemental conflux
-Can make you dizzy due to flicker
-Emberwake + Taming isn't that cheap but you can use other rings
-Reflect can be dangerous without flasks up
-Can be laggy especially in perandus packs

Offensively, I could post the tooltip dps, but it's pointless since it's a prolif build with vaal molten shell. For this build, I take EO since we get enough accuracy from gear and tree to hit stuff, and CWDT ice spear gives us crits for EO. Alternatively, you can go RT, drop the accuracy and ice spear for a bit less damage but more consistency and an extra curse. Bottom line is, packs die really fast, vms kills big stuff fast, and flicker lets you move fast.

Defensively, this build is tailored towards clear speed and obviously isn't supposed to tank core boss, but it can do most endgame content quickly and relatively safely. This character is somewhat fragile with only 4.5k life. However, it does have acrobatics/phase acrobatics, vaal pact leech, can run into reflect mobs with vaal molten shell up with ruby flask/divination charges usually up due to the clear speed, and arctic armor mitigates a huge chunk of oro's drawback (flickering doesn't count as moving), and purity of fire pushes resistance to 80% before flasks. On-hit fortify is available as well depending on the skill links you use. I also use cloak of flame and Paragon of Calamity, further reducing physical and fire damage taken. Alternatively, you could drop the Cloak of Flame and acrobatics and go for a more armor heavy spec instead, but I feel Cloak of Flame is the best balance between offense and defense.

Skills + Links

Main Oro's Flicker:

Spoiler
Your core 4L is:
Flicker->Multistrike->WED->Melee Splash

5th and 6th link is up to you:
Blood magic if you want to run Anger and not use mana
Innervate since elemental conflux shocks for faster clear speed from onslaught
Hypothermia since elemental conflux chills and thus is a more multiplier
Fire Pen for more damage
Life leech for more sustain
Fortify for more defenses

Chest Vaal Molten Shell:

Spoiler
VMS->Inc Duration->Life Leech is the core setup

Additional links are up to you here as well:
Conc effect for more damage especially against bosses
Controlled destruction for more damage
Added cold damage for more damage and to chill/freeze
Elemental focus gives more damage at the cost of your status ailments (your flicker should be applying enough ailments, mainly you lose some ignite stacks with emberwake)

Offhand Weapon (optional)

Spoiler
Either have gems you want to level or have a single target weapon. For my single target, I use a 2nd Oro's.

Since I use Emberwake + Taming, I try to stack as many ignites as possible. I use molten strike->multistrike->WED->fortify->conc effect->faster attacks, but you can use whatever setup feels best for you. You could even use a pledge of hands with firestorm or something.

4L #1 is the aura setup:

Spoiler
Enlighten + Arctic Armor + Purity of Fire + either Anger (if using blood magic) or leap slam/flame dash or golem of your choice (if running leap slam, you can drop enlighten for fortify)

4L #2 is the ghetto blasphemy setup (it allows you to apply a leveled curse on a level 1 CWDT):

Spoiler
CWDT + Blade Vortex + Curse on Hit + Your Desired Curse (Flammability/Ele Weakness/Warlord's Mark/Enfeeble/Temp Chains)

4L #3 is the utility setup. It shoots ice spears to crit and trigger elemental overload and also arctic breath to chill, or use enduring cry to generate endurance charges, or another curse can be used here if you are going RT:

Spoiler
CWDT + Arctic Breath (or enduring cry) + Ice Spear (or curse if going RT) + GMP

Gear

Weapon
Obviously going to be Oro's.

Secondary Weapon
I use a second Oro's for a single-target setup that helps if VMS is down; you could use a pledge of hands with firestorm or something in here as well.

Helmet
We use scold's here; it triggers VMS and is a core part of the build. Thankfully it's really cheap in Perandus.

Chest
I use cloak of flame here. It synergizes with scold's causing you to take fire damage and keeps paragon of calamity with 100% uptime. You could use a kaom's, carcass, or belly if you wanted instead (take liege of the primodial instead of paragon).

Rings
Emberwake Taming in the ring slots is really nice for higher end maps as the ignite stacks really do work on high resist/hp mobs.

For lower tier map clearing, I use 2x mokou's for faster clearing instead since everything dies instantly anyways.

Porcupines can be dangerous with spikes on death. In order to be safer, in some maps I drop taming for pyre as it blows up the porcupines before they launch their spikes.

You can also use generic life/res/wed rings if you want

Amulet
This is going to be your generic life/res amulet. Crit chance and accuracy aren't bad either. Bonus points if you can find one with +1 max res or frenzy charge.

Belt
This can be your generic life/wed/res belt. I use Dyadian Dawn since it's cheap, has good hp and res, and gives leech since we are chilling.

Boots and Gloves
Your generic hp/res gear with movement speed on boots and accuracy/attack speed on gloves. You could use darkray vectors for your boots at the cost of some life.

Flasks

You can be flexible with flasks, but here's my generic setup:
1x health recovery with bleed removal, can be hybrid as well and you can replace the mana flask
1x ruby flask to protect against reflect/crematorium boss
1x damage mitigation flasks (i.e. phys reduction flask or blind flask)
1x utility flask (i.e. quicksilver) or an instant health flask
1x mana flask if not using hybrid

You'll definitely want a freeze removal flask due to strongboxes and how deadly freeze can be.

Level 90 tree with Elemental Overload

Leveling
Leveling is really easy, just use firestorm, grab life/aoe/fire nodes as you level and transition into Oro's at level 67. Alternatively, you can stick with firestorm until you get your merciless ascendancy points.

Asendancy

Start with Elemental Conflux, then Prolif, then Liege unless you're doing a cloak of flame setup like me, where Paragon is preferred. You could take Pendulum if you wanted to as well. I did lab at level 80 with oro's but you can definitely do it earlier, just have a single target setup ready and don't let him get buffed up.

Bandits

Oak/Life, Kill all/Passive Point, Kraitlyn/Frenzy

Map Mods
There are a few map mods that you want to try to avoid or work around:
Blood magic- we lose auras/AA but we can still map, it's just more unsafe
Ele reflect- skip for obvious reasons
Immune to status ailments- can't gain frenzy charges since you can't ignite, skip
Slower mana regen- either use bm gem or mana flask
-Max is always dangerous for any build, this one is no exception
Immune to curse isn't an issue, just change the cwdt blade vortex setup to something else. Unlike many other oro's builds, we don't rely on warlord's mark leech to function properly.

Special Note for Atziri
For atziri, you will need 3 vaal molten shell gems charged up to fight her easily. Otherwise, it can be painful fighting her as her non-split form is immune to ignite. The other atziri bosses can be facerolled with one vaal molten shell charge.

Man I hope you get build of the year, this build is so fucking wicked! Just one question, do you think I can get res capped without any resist in belt and chest slot?

It's possible with higher res boots/gloves I think, but why wouldn't you have res? Headhunter?

With the same tree + my gear (same uniques), I have capped all but light res.
I could swap for another hp belt.

My amulet sucks also :^)

Fun build!

Yes, but you'll need decent rares. I think sSasori covered this as well. Since this build allows for generic gloves/boots/amulet, 45 res on all of them puts you at 135% which will cap you on merciless. Purity of fire and res on some uniques helps overcap for ele weakness; you can also add jewels as needed.
