Survivability. You'd get one-shot by one of her spears with no armor. That isn't a problem in almost any other situation, since you're never in such a confined space with directed phys damage.

I haven't found anything in the game that doesn't just absolutely melt from the lightning damage coming off my lasers.

I love it, nice work. Is Assassin clutch to this build or could you see this being worthwhile with a Ranger ascendancy?
I think Assassin is the way to go. The extra base crit really unlocks the damage potential, or else you end up having to take way more crit on gear and in the tree. You could probably make it work if you tried, though.

I'm not the inventor of this build, but i am currently playing this build in Hardcore Prophecy.
I am level 81 and am running T10 (I don't have any higher tier maps) maps with all kinds of mods without much problems.

My current skill tree at level 81

My gear is pretty average:
Gear

The bow is a no-brainer:


The helmet has high Dex and otherwise good stats:


Drillneck for 100% increased damage is OP:

If you want a budget alternative, try the Skirmish quiver for a fourth Ballista. But I highly recommend Drillneck; it's just too good.

I use a Kintsugi, but a good rare evasion chest might do it:

I don't recommend Hyrri's Ire, because it has no life.

The rest of my gear is not that good. I am not even overcapped on resists and I have -60% chaos resistance (it hurts!). Everyone of those is eiterh selffound/crafted or bought for 1c by me:

Make sure to get as much accuracy on your gear as possible. Flat lightning damage is also good. You probably want to spend a bit more on this than I have, to get overcapped on elemental resistances and get at least some chaos resistance.

I have to use that one piece of Elreon jewellery and a level 6 Clarity to sustain my Mana.

Pretty standard.

My Ballista has around 18,4k DPS with four Frenzy and 5 Power charges up on a 5-link. I will get a fifith Frenzy and a sixth Power charge and my gems are not level 20 yet. Keep in mind that I have over 400 Dex and can summon three Ballistas. So the DPS is around 55k at level 81.

Gems

Main attack:

Siege Ballista + Weapon Elemental Damage + Faster Attacks + Added Lightning Damage + Increased Critical Strikes

Added Lightning Damage adds more tooltip DPS than Phys To Lightning. Sixth link would be Lightning Penetration or Increased Critical Damage.


Charge generation:

Frenzy + GMP + Increased Critical Strikes + Power Charge on Crit

Pretty self explanatory. With five Power Charges, my crit chance is around 90%, so it's pretty easy to sustain charges. To get the first few charges, you have to hit a couple of times probably; especially against single targets.


Movement:

Blink Arrow

What did you expect?


Auras/Heralds

Wrath + Herald of Thunder

For flat lightning damage.

Clarity

I have to use a level 6 Clarity im combination with a single piece of -6 Elreon jewellery to sustain my Mana. Even -20% and -40% regen mods are not a problem. on -60% and no regen maps, I turn off Clarity and bring a Hybrid Flask.


Defense

Vaal Grace + Increased Duration

Cast When Damage Taken (lvl 1) + Blade Vortex + Blind + Chance to Flee

Because I like hipster gems. Blind + Chance to Flee on BV basically disables all melee attackers that might surround you. You might consider a more standard Cast When Damage Taken setup with Enfeeble and Immortal Call.


Curses/Golem

Summon Ice Golem

For Accuracy and Crit.

Conductivity

For tough Rares/Bosses/Magic Packs. If you have a second 5-link, you might want to test this out on your charge generation setup:

Frenzy + GMP + Power Charge on Crit + Curse on Hit + Conductivity



TL;DR: Around 4k life and 18,4k DPS per Ballista with 3 Ballistas on level 81. Did not even do Merciless Labyrinth and did not even pick up all Frenzy/Power charges on the tree yet. Build seems good, but low life total might become a problem later on. Definetly viable.
