[2.3 Video Guide] CoC, Quill Rain, INSANE DPS Assassin [HC/SC Viable]
I did a quick video of this build + Shadows and Dust to show my friends what the game play was like so i thought I would post it here as well.
Level 76 in the video with no frenzy/power charge from the tree yet, I'm in PHC so I wanted to get the life nodes first plus the build already has so much DPS. Nothing fancy on my gear other than the shadows and dust which I really enjoy using because it livens up farming quite a lot. In dried lake doing a quick circle like in the video I typically get around 500-900 kills on the killstreak (if I skip voll). Anyway here's the link, feel free to use it or whatever if it's any help! https://youtu.be/kfwjxVaLIzk Thanks for another great build! |

Hey as I've gotten further into the build I've found reflect has started to become quite dangerous do you have any ideas on how to mitigate this better? In particular when running maps with friends the increased life on mobs nearly kills me.
I'm running topaz and basalt, fully capped and have phase acro. i even tried two jewels with +3 life gained for each enemy hit but it wasn't close to enough. Any ideas are appreciated, below is my equip |

Looks like a fun build but I don't really see a way to avoid offscreen reflect deaths with it

Having a lot of trouble with single target dps now. Melee bosses are fine but any sort of ranged boss causes problems. Got the first 4 ascendancy points and picked up a Quill Rain. Tried to run villa and cleared it OK except for the boss. I can't get too close as taking 2-3 traps will kill me. I can't dps from range because the knockback pushes him further away and the barrage scatter is too wide to where not all of them hit. I was thinking pierce is useless on bosses so if there was some green spell gem we could swap in temporarily... Problem is there are no green spell projectile gems other than EK. Could use Bladefall I guess but the damage won't really be scaled by anything. Thoughts on how to get more single target dps?

is there any reason I couldn't drop some frenzy charges or something and in return pick up vaal pact and vitality void. Would that even help with reflect?

Let us know if it works. Im also fine with just 3 frenzy . usually i kick it in for bosses only |

The idea behind this build is solid but some of the choices are perplexing, tbh.
Yes, Quill Rain gives up to 100% increased projectile speed and Drillneck will increase the damage a good bit based on that, but using spells like Ethereal Knives and Spark are a huge waste of potential. I think it's a mistake to focus on the projectiles. EK especiallly is a single hit skill and Spark is unreliable. Bladefall and Glacial Cascade on the other hand are many times more powerful in combination. Run a six link with [Bow proc skill of choice][Inc. Crit Strikes][Controlled destruction/Conc. Effect (bosses if you want)][Cast on Crit][Bladefall][Glacial Cascade]. You'll do many times more damage, ESPECIALLY boss damage. Either one clears the map like crazy. The entire Drillneck setup and damage increase is worth far less than the basic mechanics of Glacial Cascade and especially Bladefall, both of which will hit from 2-4 times on average per spell. My version of this build also allows for 200-214% life and 85% crit with only thrown together gear (and that 85% is with controlled destruction). I also don't really find Frenzy charges to be worth it. You already attack insanely fast and can get to 5 attacks/s without much trouble. Sure, a small amount of "more" damage is nice, but endurance charges are way more useful, especially before you get a decent Lightning Coil (or whatever you're using). I'd also strongly recommend 5-6linking your bow, as it's a required part of the build. Gives you a lot of flexibility in the chest and you don't actually need a second six link. Many quality chests are cheap with you want less than 5 or 6 links. Also, Ambush is extremely questionable. Your bow skill is wasting it half the time and it's not adding particularly much. Toxic Delivery is never not useful. Last edited by The_Planck_Energy#3180 on Mar 21, 2016, 10:58:35 PM
