This is the official thread for my Inquisitor's Crit Arc Freeze Build. In this thread, I will cover the most basic requirements of the build. To get a more detailed explanation of how the build works and needs to be set up, check out the link to my video guide above.

First of all, what is this build and who is it suited for?

1. Anyone who wants a build that is designed for both new players and veterans alike. The build has potential to run the highest level maps, it is fairly tanky and the clear speed is great!

2. Someone who seeks a build that is fairly budget friendly - no unique items are required in order to make it work. There are however a few very strong recommended ones.

3. People who enjoy a good roaring thunderstorm.

4. A build that is both viable for hardcore as well as softcore.

5. People who prefer a build that has a video-guide linked to it.

Build mechanic introduction:

For defenses, this build utilizes the Mind Over Matter keystone and Eldritch Battery. To freeze enemies the Call of the Brotherhood ring is used. To sustain the energy shield cost of Arc you will be using Life Leech + Ghost Reaver.

__________________________________________________________________________

Skill-gems and setups:

Primary Damage setup:

- Arc, Spell Echo, Faster Casting and Life Leech. When you get a 5-link add in Added Lightning Damage and for your 6th link add Inc. Critical Strikes.

Note 1: An Empower level 4 is going to be stronger than inc. critical strikes if you add it to a level 21 corrupted arc gem as it will give arc an extra chain.

Note 2: Since the Inquisitor subclass gives 100% elemental penetration on crits, there is no need for Lightning Pen. You may however, want to use it until then. Besides, there is no need to use Life Leech until you go Ghost Reaver.

Secondary Damage Setup:

- Vaal Stormcall, Spell Echo, Added Lightning Damage and Increased Duration.

Defensive Setup:

- Cast When Damage Taken (lvl 4), Arctic Breath (lvl 7), Greater Multiple Projectiles (max level) & Temporal Chains (lvl 7)

Auras/Mana Reservation & Golem:

- Wrath, Arctic Armor, CWDT (lvl 1) & Flame Golem (lvl 3).

Mobility & Defence:

- Whirling Blades, Faster Attacks & Fortify.

Note: this setup requires a dagger to use.

Curse and Power Charge generation:

- Curse on Hit, Assassin's Mark & Herald of Thunder.

Note: Once you get yourself the Call of The Brotherhood Ring you need to use Herald of Ice instead of Herald of Thunder.

Leveling Tips:

1. Buy Arc from Nessa after completing the quest, The Sirens Cadence.
2. Equip 2 Lifesprig wands. Add Arc, Added Lightning Damage and Faster Casting to this.
3. Buy a Reverberation Rod at level 24 and start using this. Don't use Life Leech until you go Ghost Reaver.
4. Buy a Geofri's Crest at level 53 and add your Arc setup to this.
5. Once you reach level 70+ you should start saving up for a 6-link.

Note: If you have trouble sustaining the cost of Arc via your energy shield, I'd recommend temporarily speccing into Zealot's Oath (skill-tree close to the templar) and using the Stone Golem. Using these two together greatly increases ES regen. This shouldn't be necessary for end-game though!

Bandit Quest Rewards:

- Normal : Help Oak for 40+ life.
- Cruel : Kill them all for 1 extra skill point.
- Merciless: Help Alira for +1 to maximum power charges.

Lifting! Great build. Longtime lurker and and happy to see your guides out with some ideas for us.

I've been considering a life based arcer along the same lines, but your use of EB (I have never used it before) is curious to me.

With EB and MoM, when you take a big hit (lets say, boss hit), how do you get the mana (now ES) to fire off another arc (assuming MoM drains all of your ES).

With whirling blades, we are always close to packs, so there will be ample instances of getting some occasional hard phys hits.

Thanks in advance!

Good luck all in 2.2!
Hey Lifting! Could this build work as the Hierophant to get another 10% on the MoM and extra ES from mana? It would certainly do less damage but if I wanted to play it tankier, would the Hierophant class still work?

I will add them asap, but right now the forums are overloaded and it takes some extra time. They will be up within an hour though :)

Right now you can look at the video around 3:32 to at least get an idea of where to go.
NOTE: As a temporary solution to opening the skill-trees for now. Use this skill-tree calculator and copy the skill-tree URL into the program.
