2.1.2d Patch Note
" You should thank them again, those corrupt files could have left your system vulnerable to something more malicious. Better to find them through a game update than when dealing with something more significant. :-) |

So far, most ppl have issue on installing vc dist 2015. This can be fixed like the guys mention before. The key is to make sure the services
"Windows Update Service", "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" and "Windows Modules Installer" be activated. So you can use the windows update. Thus you can install vc dist 2015. Yup, it takes hours. I did it. And I can open the game too. However, the game closes immediately once loading screen is up. Okay, I have no way but to redownload the "Content.ggpk". It now takes another hours. GGG, it may not be you false. But you know what? Really on m$ vc framework too much is not a good thing, as there are always problems on installing something on windows. I understand that somethings it's need for coding, but please state it clear, and help us to do so. There may be many computer experts here to help us to solve the problem. But you are only the PoE system expert. If you keep say nothing but letting us to guess what is happening, it may cost a lot. Please, inform us. At least let us know you are working on this. But not on Reddit, of course. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

" Generally, you should not need to format your drive and completely reinstall Windows. I suggest that if reinstalling was the only thing that could have solved it, then there were other problems you would soon experience that just hadn't presented themselves yet. In my case, I simply used the Windows Update applet from Control Panel/System, updated to SP1 including the most recent MSRtool, installed the X86 version of MSVCP140.dll, and allowed windows to restart as it desired. Often with windows issues, the path of least resistance is the best solution and less likely to result in further complications. |

" The only thing GGG changed was the version of Visual Studio they use to compile the game, which makes uses of newer technology needed for the Ascendancy update. They can guide us in understanding the minimum level our O/S requires to make use of the technology but it's not a matter of the game being broken. These issues are entirely the fact that our machines are not updated to meet the requirements that M$ has imposed for receiving the MSVCP runtime files. For example, if M$ has determined that there may be issues using the runtime in Win7 without sp1, it will throw an error rather than allowing it to run unprotected, to prevent opening unexpected security holes in our system. |

" In control panel, choose windows update and allow it to install "at least" SP1 and the MSR-tool. This will require a couple of automatic restarts. Once you are back in windows, download the X86 version of MSVCP140.dll from the Microsoft site, as listed early in this thread. Once downloaded, run it and it will install in the correct folder and self register in regsvr32 system. After that, you should be good to go. |
|
" You don't need to uninstall the previous versions of the MSVCP runtime, they may in fact still be required for other applications. 110 and 120 should still be fine. If you had attempted to install MSVCP140 and it did not install correctly, because of other deficiencies in your windows system, you would need to uninstall it or at least use 'regsrv32 /u msvcp140.dll' to remove it from the window stack. Once your windows was otherwise up to date, you could then reinstall this runtime. |
|
" You are getting that error "because" you deleted MSVCP110.dll. Once you have your Win7 at sp1, donwload and install MSVCP11o (version 1.1) redistribution, then follow the earlier link here to install 140. I would suspect that GGG just updated to Visual Studio 2015, from 2012 version 1.1 |

finally got mine working...

I found a way to log in and play without needing a system update for Win 7 Ultimate x64.
Going to... C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{65AD78AD-D23D-3A1E-9305-3AE65CD522C2}v14.0.23506\packages\vcRuntimeMinimum_x86\cab1.cab ...and... C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{1045AB6F-6151-3634-8C2C-EE308AA1A6A7}v14.0.23506\packages\vcRuntimeAdditional_x86\cab1.cab ...allowed me to copy all the files there to PoE's main folder. The copied files have underscores where they need dashes, so I changed them as the .exe demanded, it didn't require all of them. Setting the .exe compatability mode to Win XP SP3 and to run as an Administrator got me to log in and play. Hope this helps someone! |
