[2.2] Fireball, BM, Crit, 75% or 100% fire2chaos, Massive aoe explosion - edited for 2.2 change
2.2 build
pros
1, high damage, solid clear speed 2, chaos conversion = no reflect 3, fireball/firestorm easy switch to each other for different map mods. 4, that boom boom boom sound is reinvigorating 5, frostwall and fireball are best buds, right frostwall placement + crit = insta kill even in red maps. 6, really shines in group play when you don't attract many enemies, clear packs like a bauss. 7, all map mods 8, CRAZY offscreen kiting ability, decoy totem solves most problem
cons
1, sort of a glass cannon, you will have next to no base defense except for higher life pool and 3-4% regen, so good control and clever flask managing is essential. 2, Certain monsters could be deadly, e.g. porcupines in a "poison on hit" map 3, fracture map is a pain in the ass, need switching to firestorm 4, you don't want to stand still with this build, so certain map boss are almost undoable, such as malformation piety, boss room too small. 5, VERY VERY point heavy, 123 points total, you can't finish getting all essential nodes until around lvl 90 6, don't utilize ES well
stats
curretly lvl 91 4.9k life 1.3k es (useless because BM will stop es regen, so you almost alway at 0 es) armour evation just forget it fireball 23.8k tooltip dps, 35% crit flamesurge 61k tooltip dps, 35% crit ascendancy stats ascendancy, slayer and assassin without power charges 24.8k fireball 42%crit (with controlled destruction) 63.1k flamesurge 49%crit (switch controlled destruction to elemental focus)
skill set up
fireball: 5L fireball + GMP + controlled destruction + spell echo + conc effect 6L add "added chaos damage" or high level empower flamesurge for remaining single target after bombing 4L flamesurge + void minipulation + conc effect + controlled destruction must have skills golem, for damage boost or defense decoy totem, when you need to offscreen bomb some monster, usually bosses and rogue exiles. whirling blade, movement frostwall, can concentrate your fireball exlposion a lot, CWDT or selfcast(CWDT frostwall is effective but really annoying, especially in in-door map) CWDT-immortal call, because glass cannon flamedash optional ascendancy change elemental focus instead of added chaos damage when 100% conversion, still use added chaos dmg on fireball when 75% conversion
leveling
everyone has their own favourite ways to level, this is just my method lvl 1-12 what ever skill lvl 12-28 firestorm lvl 28-53 bladefall + firestorm lvl 53+ this is when you can put on consuming dark dagger, switch back to firestorm, do not go fireball right away, you really want 2 rolling flame active.
recommended fireball transition tree
example gear
ascendancy 2.2 gear
ascendancy 2.2 change
Non legacy consuming dark change 75%-50% is awkward for this build, I see 2 ways to compensate one is dual wielding consuming dark dagger, use a better defensive chest, the lost 100% crit from infernal mantle you can get back from 6th link by using the new enhanced increased crit chance gem. edit: after testing dual wield 2 consuming dark, wearing +1 tabula rasa with 6th link added chaos dmg, you will have pretty much the exact same damage number as before the consuming dark nerf, for those who don't have +1 tabula rasa, will be lower, and I imagine elemental focus can fix that , this method is very well doable, since it's only a minor cut from a very powerful offense, and not have to 5link your chest is actually saving money, you can finish gear set around 1 ex another way is just roll with 75% conversion, on jewels you no longer use chaos dmg mod but fire/elemental/spell/proj/area dmg, fireball damage will certainly take a sizable cut, but I do believe the pack clearing ability will be good, as for single target, since you can actually ignite now , your flamesurge damage will be better than 2.1 for Ascendancy you want to pick Slayer from duelist, this is a must, damage vs rare and unique monsters compensate our weakness, overkill damage leech is great with a heavy hitting range skill, stun full life monsters also excellent. the other path you can select from assassin from shadow for more crit,or deadeye from ranger for pierce/additional fireball(use LMP instead of GMP)/increased dmg at far end Or you can take berserker from maurauder for that 1.5% leech, and take vaal pact, I can see this is good before you can afford transitioning to chaos with a consuming dark dagger. Scion's ascendancy passives are truely OP another big boost is from unique ring essence worm, +2 anger, or you can use purity with a lot of blue gear and hidden potential jewel.
Spoiler
2.2 build is meaning less in 2.3, you are better off with pure fire and non-bloodmagic set up. will update when I get all the map trials and finish the map lab. Last edited by TravisL on Jun 4, 2016, 5:38:08 AM Last bumped on May 23, 2016, 2:30:43 AM

Do you have any videos for this ? Fireball builds these days are pretty rare.

" 2.3 would be a great boost for the build, I would do a remake then, currently working on min/maxing trees and gear selection, but won't know how much is different until then. prbly go dual consuming dark dagger, lightning golem for cast speed since we lose one sceptre, inferno mantle still BIS chest, Fireball + GMP + echo + conc effect , the other link would be from faster casting, controlled destruction, ele focus. tree change expectations, left side keep unchanged, right side start with shadow (take assassin), ditch method of madness cluster and what's in between to scion spell dmg start, go down to acro/phase acro , dunno if the link works with 8 ascendancy pts now. pretty much same dmg nodes, same crit nodes, same life nodes, now with acro/phase acro, that's a huge defensive boost.
