[2.1] Storm Call - a different approach

@t0x1s1m0:
normal:oak
cruel:skillpoint (possibly alira)
merciless:alira

@MatrixFactor:
What you are saying might totally work, but in the flashback league, I kinda prefered acro. Against the suddenly spawning beyond bosses your HP pool was contested before the storm calls would even strike - I would rather have acro up then. Other than that, what you are saying is totally reasonable, and probably much more comfortable and potion-free in a non-turbo'd beyond environment :)
Hey,

Nice guide, but can I ask you something? Why not use Spell Echo? It's pretty imba...
Have you tried this build in 2.1?
Saw the build and was hoping to see it updated.

He does. He uses Pledge of Hands, which grants a level 30 Spell Echo to socketed gems, which is one of the two reasons that PoH is THE top spellcasting staff for most self-casting builds - the other reason being its massive increase to maximum mana. (The strong spelldamage is nice too, but can more easily be acquired elsewhere.)

Ought to be fairly simple to update. Storm Call was already a really fun spell in 1.3 and 2.0), and 2.1 saw it receive a major buff with an increase to the base radius and damage.

(My favourite was tri-spell totem crit Storm Call turning lightning into cold, for freezing the screen in 1.3, but 2.0's reduction in spell totem duration hurt that a lot).

EDIT:

Perhaps something like this 2.1 build (110 pts, L90) - I created it right now by looking at the 2.0 build and taking advantage of the new pathing opportunities in the Shadow area to get a bit more damage, crit, life, and max mana.

Haven't tried it, but it ought to work.

Yep, nothing major has changed, the build should work better than it used to - it takes advantage of the storm call buff & the base mana buff as well.
Just tried it out, even tho I was rusty as hell (forgot the keybinds, pots, playstyle - i did not play this char in a while), had no trouble in a low-regen necropolis. Might record a fresh footage, but it looks almost the same as the old one. Storm call is a bit bigger tho :)
Pi2rEpsilon's tree is fine with a slight adjustment (passing towards ghost reaver saves a point), additional points should be getting the 2 point jewels. Depending on the gear, might be even overkill in mana, adjust as needed.
