[2.0] Iron Will Chaos Blood Magic Incinerate - Lightning Coil Version
Hey guys,
Welcome to my very first build guide! ************************************************************************************ 1. Introduction 2. General stats 3. Gem Setup 4. Gear/Jewels/Flasks 5. Bandits 6. Tree/Leveling 7. Damage/Defense 8. Video 9. Faq 10. Changelog 11. Shoutouts 12. Links ************************************************************************************ 1. Introduction: I saw a build by Alanti that utilises The Consuming Dark Dagger + Infernal Mantle to convert 100% of fire damage to Chaos. While I like that concept, I don't really like to use that mantle :) Instead i wanted to make an armour based version of this build that maybe has less damage, but a bit more survivability. The goals that I set with this build was: - Reach a str-pool of 700+ - Reach 8k+ life - Have 15k+ dps, enough to clear high end content. The possibility of a huge strength pool is a huge plus because this adds both life and damage, since we use the Doon-sceptre. Also I made this in Standard, because I have most of my gear there. And so, this build ensued... 2. General stats: 16k tooltip damage (which roughly means 64k dps at fase 3) 96% increased projectile speed 10k armour before flasking (25k with) 8.7% life regen 7.8k life at lvl 90 3. Gem setup: My current links are: Chest: Incinerate - Spell Echo - Faster Casting - Greater Multiple Projectiles - Iron will - Life Leech Helmet: Cast When Damage Taken - Increased Duration - Molten Shell - Immortal Call Gloves: Whirling Blades - Faster Attacks - Fortify - Enhance Boots: Vengeance - Blind - Curse on Hit - Warlords Mark Sceptre : Flame Totem - Faster Casting - Faster Projectiles (and it gets level 30 Iron will from sceptre) Dagger: Cast When Damage Taken - Summon Chaos Golem - Enduring Cry If only a 4L is available for your attack: Incinerate - Echo - GMP (or LMP, depending if you can support) - Faster Casting. For 5L I would add Life leech. 4. Gear/Jewels/Flasks: Gear:
Spoiler
I chose to use Lightning Coil, together with Iron Reflexes to get an armour pool of 10k+ and the Coil converts part of the phys damage I receive to lightning damage, which is then partly negated by my lightning resistance. Jewels:
Spoiler
Put in the Inertia jewel between the Shadow and Ranger area. This jewel alone will give you 110+ str! Also, slot in the Clear Mind jewel as soon as possible. It will give you a huge damage boost, since we won't be using aura's the entire game! Flasks
Spoiler
The Atziri flask will give you a nice overall damage boost and will add to your life leech. With the Granite flask your armour goes up to 25k, which adds another nice layer of defense for phys hits. I Added the Topaz flask so that I could mitigate shock caused by the Lightning Coil. 5. Bandits: I went with 40 to life - skill point - skill point. 6. Tree/Leveling: Current (lvl 90): Instead of staying on top of the tree, I decided to utilize the duelist area for more life regen and pick up the projectile damage nodes from there. Leveling:
Spoiler
For starting, I used Fire Ball for leveling, because it was easy to support. First thing I did was pick up the first possible jewel node so that I could use the Clear Mind jewel. We will not use aura's for the entire game anyway. After that, I went down through the projectile damage and went to life and life regen (+the mana regen left of Scion so that we could support our skills). By the time you reach level 19 your tree looks something like this: From there, we go up to the Templar area for more life regen and life and some spell damage and cast speed. After that, we go to the Marauder area so that we can take even more life and Regen. The tree at level 37 (This already includes the point we get from the bandits in Normal difficulty): Then I made a connection from Marauder to Scion nodes, so that I could drop some nodes connecting to Templar. At this point I chose to switch to Incinerate and spam mana pots to support it. Now we make our way toward Blood Magic, taking life nodes along the way. We can drop the mana regen left of Scion too now. By this point we are around level 45. Following that, we go to the Duelist area. Now its time to go for more damage. To begin, we make our way to the Ranger area and Shadow area to pick up more projectile damage and speed. Now we pick up more spell damage in the Templar area and more life. Next up, is going for Iron Reflexes. We pick up projectile damage and life regen along the way. Now we go for more armour but taking some in Templar and Marauder area. I also took Unwavering Stance at this point. It is also now that I began wearing most of my end game gear. We are around level 70 at this point. Now we add some more jewels, I chose for 2 rare's with life and projectile speed and The Inertia jewel, which converts dex to str. This 1 jewel adds 110+ str to the build. We also fill out some more life and the last of our dmg nodes. By this point we are level 89. The last thing thats left is more life, we do that by filling out the Scion wheel. By the time this is finished, we should be around level 95. 7. Damage/Defense: At the moment I have a tooltip DPS of 16k. 75% of that is Chaos damage because of the conversion by The Consuming Dark. At fase 3 this is roughly 64k dps (around 4 times the tooltip dps). I can tell you this clears very fast! Not many mobs have chaos res so they all melt!
Spoiler
The 10k armour is nice for mitigating phys hit. The Lightning Coil helps with this as well. The huge regen we are getting helps support our Incinerate. Even in half regen-maps, we don't degen life because of this.

8. Video: Gorge run - I never even had to Pot during this run, only used my Atziri flask for the bosses. PS. GORGECEPTION (Thanks Etherfire for that one :D) Residence - accidentally whirled into the Touch Of God of Dominus, luckily I survived :-) 9. Faq: Q.: But sir, how do you deal with reflect? A.: That is a very good question, and the answer is: you don't! Since 75% of my damage is chaos, that can't be reflected. And the 25% thats left is easily taken care of by our fire res and life leech. Q.: Is this a beginner-friendly build? A.: Yes it is, actually. Only thing really needed to get this going is incinerate and mana pots. Once you pass level 64 you can buy a Doon sceptre, but those are very cheap. The Consuming Dark can get a bit more expensive, but it is not really a requirement for this build, just a nice bonus. Q.: Why do I nowhere see a penetration gem? Are you crazy??? A.: No I'm not! Since most of the damage we deal is chaos, there is no need for a pen-gem. That leaves us with some nice room for Empower of Life Leech. Q.: Is this HC-viable? A.: Yes it is! Since we get some huge defenses and a very nice life pool this build is suited for both casual and hardcore players. Q.: Can this build kill Atziri/Uber Atziri? A.: Well, I have never planned a build specifically with those goals in mind. But I'm certain it is possible. The movement we get is God-Like, damage is good and our life pool protects us from high damages we might receive, so it can definately be done! 10. Changelog:

Bump for my buddy :)
On topic: Great build! Tanky as hell and does good damage to deal with endgame content. I think it's a fair choice for HC leagues too as it's easy to level and there's potential to get even more hp if you need. Incinerate barely needs damage nodes from the tree so the jewels can fill the need for more cast speed, projectile speed, life etc. It's a reasonable choice for new-ish players aswell, it's easy to play and movement with whirling blades is fast and convinient in maps. Atm I'm running a fairly similar build in the 1m Flashback race. I was able to get the challenges done and level to 87 fairly quickly, and I'm still keen to play more. "just for try, for see and for know"

Looks realy solid, nice job man :)

looks solid, but just 3 quick things i noticed:
you should bump your chaos golem one more level, which gives it 4% phys reduction instead of 3%. also i think enhance is really unneccesary in the WB setup and you could swap your enduring cry there, freeing up one slot in the CWDT golem setup. Could do a something like summon skeletons there for just a little bit of extra defense. oh, and you didnt link your belt in the gear section :) ign: KilaMunis

" Thanks for that, did not notice that :p Ah didn't know it would go up by a % I do think enhance really helps with the speed though, i kinda like this setup. Thanks for the feedback :) |

I had exactly the same thought after trying anapoes build about 3 days ago and getting wrecked by physical damage. One thought is 2 points into extra frenzy charge and passive point and using the blood dance.
|
|
" I had that idea too, but since i'm using Lightning coil, its hard to get enough resistances as it is. Blood dance would wreck me. I have also tried using blood rage, but it was a constant struggle to watch over my life, while i never had that problem otherwise. Decided to skip it entirely then. |
|
Well will post my tree, i think your trees good and im jealous of the extra projectile speed you have.
Gear Im at 30550 ttdps with frenzy charges up which happens pretty fast. |

" wow very nice! how much hp are at btw? is scolds good for this? decent roll on that ventors btw ;) |
