CoC Tank 17k armor no flask, amazing clear speed ice nova / glacial cascade Video added

Welcome everyone to my first guild for Path of Exile, and yes you read that right this is a Tank cast on crit build using armor, high life and fortify for defense.

I've ran with a lot of cast on crit builds, fakener, quill rain, bm wanderer coc and they all have the same problem for me which is unless you have their absolute god items the build is just too squishy especially for hardcore.

I've been making this build for over a week now and spent something near 400 regret's and countless amount of chromie orbs and I've finally done it, I've made a cast on crit build that uses armor as it's main source of defense as well as having a high life pool.

Passive Tree

I am currently in Warbands at the moment and so I have decided to go for damage first over defense still sitting at 4K life and 65% phys reduction but If i was in Hardcore I would have gone through the defensive nodes first.

If anyone want's me to do a Hardcore levelling tree leave it in the comments and I'll do it in the next few days

getting right down to it with the pro's and con's
pro's
Huge amounts of dps
Tanky
Very fast Moving
Not stupidly expensive but still a few ex
really fun

Con's
Not meant for beginners
not meant for laggy Computer's
Too much on the screen, seriously sometimes you miss things that can either hurt or kill you
unless you have the jewel's the crit chance is a bit of a pain
20/20 gem's are a must (only on the skills tied into Cast on crit)

Before looking at These remember this is all at level 82 with ok gear by no means the best these numbers can be, I've only done it with this gear to prove it doesn't need God items I will update with better items as and when I get them.

Defene stat's
Unbuffed Defense

Buffed Defense

Buffed and pot Defense

Damage Stat's
Glacial Cascade unbuffed

Buffed

Buffed With charges

Ice nova unbuffed

Buffed

Buffed with Charges

Molten Strike Unbuffed

Buffed

Buffed with Charges

Gear

This was the biggest pain for this build was working out what gear to have in the end this is my setup

As I said earlier most Cast on crit builds are a pain without the god items others have spent weeks getting and crafting, I've decided to do this build on the Warbands league to prove it can be done using ok to good items.

Ok so to explain each piece

Helm

I love this Item huge spell damage increase and the spells reflect damage back at you means you can abuse the hell out of vaal molten shell which explodes each time you're hit, the gem is amazing on bosses as you'll see in the video.

Chest

For the Chest you need it 6 linked, and try get as much armor and life on it as possible they are the 2 biggest things you need on the chest fill the other spaces with any resist's you're missing.

Do not use carcass jack that's what i started using it looks great on paper but the lack of armor is too much to be able to call it viable

Shield and Boot's

both of these items are the same as the chest you want to prioritize armor and life then fill the spaces with any resist's you're missing

Belt

With the belt you have two choices either Doryani's Invitation with cold damage or a rare leather belt with high life and armor as the secondary stat's again filling out any resist's needed.

Gloves

For the gloves as a cheap version you want Maligaro's Virtuosity Eventually I will buy Atziri's Acuity's but I can't afford them just yet

Rings

High crit, High life fill any missing resist's also try get intelligence on both rings so you can save passive points

Neck

Try get Crit chance and multiplier on the neck along with life and resist's

Weapon

Left the best till last, at first I was using a scepter which was great it had massive amounts of spell damage 81% more off the top of my head, But the attack speed you get on dagger's is so much higher the more you hit the more you crit.
The biggest thing i love about the dagger's though is the perk Hit's can't be evaded meaning no passive points are being wasted on accuracy nodes and you hit every time more you hit the more you crit :D seriously this build went from good to amazing just by switching to this dagger.

flask's

Try get recharge 1 when you crit on every flask means their up almost 100 of the time nothing special about these flasks pretty much the setup I use for both Atziri and mapping

Jewel's
At some point I will show you my Jewels :)Just waiting for it to update so i can link them

Gem link's

In the 6 link you want
Molten strike - Multistrike - Fortify - Ice nova - Glacial Cascade - Cast on Critical strike

4L Heral of ice - Empower - Curse on Hit - Assassin's Mark where our power charges come from

4L Determination - Empower - Ice Golem - Blood Rage

Neither of these need the Empower Gem I've just thrown it in there as a nice boost

3L Whirling blades - Faster Attacks - Blood Magic our movement

3L Vaal Molten Shell - Increased Duration - Life Leech

Bandit's
Oak for the + 40 life
Kill all for the passive the attack speed isn't worth it
either Alira or Kraityn
As we're running with power charges and frenzy charges the choice is your's which one you go for more crit or more damage I Went with the extra power charge as we don't take any from the tree and as I said without optimized gear it's a pain to get the crit at the start

Thank you for reading My guide on the Ice Queen coc tank hope you enjoyed it, I will be adding more to the guide soon such as video's, Updated gear as and when I get it and my progress on uber

4k Life is NOT a tank. No matter how much AR you have.
Current Builds:
All in one Thread until i make new Guides
poeurl.com/c4vT
Admittedly 4k wasn't high i've now got 6k life and will be pushing near if not over 7k when i'm done need to upgrade my gear and get % max life on my jewels i will link the updated version once it's finished this was just the skeleton of the build.

But life in no way means tank https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doflk9_kT58

9k life died in a second, being a tank is being able to take a hit something hit's you for 4k you have 8k life you'll die fast, if you have 4k life getting hit for 200-300 you'll stay alive which is what tanking is all about.
