Killing Merveil too easy?
I don't know if I was overpowered or what, but I kicked her ass without breaking a sweat..
I do not think that I was overpowered though.. I had problems dealing with few groups beforehand, and died several times... What were your experiences? This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

Is that just on normal, or was it easy for you on the later difficulty levels as well?
PS - they said in the gameplay videos that boss fights will get harder. You can look forward to that coming soon! "I would have listened... I would have understood!" - Scion
Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet? |

Firstly, welcome to beta testers' section. You got some nice a few threads going on suggestions section when you were not a beta tester.
About Merveil being easy; its not only about her, but also all other super unique boss' lack challenge on every count (dmg, health, armour, resistances, chance to hit, dodge, evasion etc) The problem is super unique mobs are not only easy in 'Normal' difficulty; but in all other difficulties too. The thoughness of unique mobs do not increase in a linear way that could force players playing in a more tactical way. I also told Chris about this, and many times i did so on board in different topics. Hope they would fix this abusive stuation as soon as possible. "This is too good for you, very powerful ! You want - You take"

And we also need a bad ass boss at the end of act II I think.

Yeah, Merveil is definitely too easy, for how major of a boss she is supposed to be. I think it's a much bigger deal in the higher difficulties, though - maybe I had a strange experience, but I thought she was pretty scary on normal. On the rest of the difficulties, though, once I had my build figured out and some decent gear, she fell over without any effort... I play on hardcore mode, and my marauder actually doesn't use health pots in the battle at all, just because he doesn't need to: he stays at completely full life the entire time.
The devs are aware of this, though, so I figure I'll just give em some time to figure out the balancing ;) SotW FTW

Yeah, I almost didn't need potions too.
On the other note, have you ever played with Infernal blow skill? I play with Heavy strike as a default attack, and Infernal as crowd control spell.. Occasionally I thrown in a Zombie spell, or something third.. I am not sure, but it seems to me Infernal blow isn't as useful - I get the a feeling that damage value of the initial hit isn't adequate, more so because you don't get potion regen. from the fire damage (I get more Flask regen. from Heavy strike) If you use it actively, it costs too much mana in order for it to be useful, and I am unsure of how useful it is when you do get it to work properly (fire damage to the rest of them). I got this feeling since I started dying actively by the groups, and being ok against uniques one on one or two on one.. Last edited by Tank_The_Shredder_Evans#0131 on Dec 6, 2011, 2:42:33 PM

In my experience she gets easier in the later difficulties too. It doesn't help that her second form (and all other versions of Merveil's daughters) seems to run out of mana quite often, though really the second form feels more like a battle extension than a threat.
And as it is such so also as such is it unto you

Merveil is no problem.

I play on hardcore, yet i prefer the pure offensive builds. So on at least my ranger and witches ... my first encounters with her were scary... because i had little life, and getting frozen was not a good way to start the fight.. and the blast took 25% of my hp :p
Anyway later on i could just kite her, and 2 ice resist rings took care of the rest... I think though... You have to keep in mind that few bosses in similar games were really hard if you knew what you were doing. Most notably Diablo 2.. some bosses were scary first time i met them (duriel as a melee.. oh god)but pushovers after that Do keep in mind that hardcore players shouldnt have to play the perfect match just to deal with the act 1 boss on normal. So super attacks and such should take that into consideration :p |

" the whole game is like this honestly, i see no real challenge after normal merv. normal merv can be challenging for some builds, my 62 HC templar had some difficulty on norm merv, yet has loltanked it every difficulty thereafter when i had better skills/gear. i dont even think my build is that great, but i doubt i play my templar much more its just too easy im going back to a bow ranger since that build challenged me much more. ~SotW HC Guild~
