Using +3 bow and empower to boost poison DoT still isnt enough to compete with general builds out there (not to mention facebreaker still doing up to 30k dps cyclone with average gear). Long usage with maps running gives the following ideas:

1. poison arrow has to be boostable by some means apart from level boosting - it could be any %damage and %projectile damage mods/nodes/gems.

2. basic damage can be consderably lower (-30%) so that you have to specialize to get it running (skillpoints-gems-links). Currently you can get resonable dps with no effort (except for loooong gem leveling), however there is no way to boost it to match high content (maps).

Summary: total dps with c.a. 15 passives put into dps nodes and 5-link equipped into +3 bow and all max-lvl gems should give around 7-9k dps poison to compete with other high-end builds.

Considering chaos resists mobs - I feel like they are pretty strongly resistant and there is usually minimum 1 type of such mobs at any given area, and there is no way to remove this resists. This makes poison not better-over all damage type. The better damage type is still phys since high pdps penetrates any arnor and you leech A LOT from it, not the case of poison, you cant leech from DoT and that is EXTREMELY important.
Am I missing something, or are there no changes in the 1.0.1 patch notes for any damage over time skills (including poison arrow)? I was really excited to finally try a poison arrow build.

That was further delayed to 1.0.2
Thank you for the clarification. Glad to hear it's still in the works! Looking forward to putting together a poison arrow build when the changes roll around.
Few questions for you all.

- Can poison arrow be used with traps?
- Does the degen effect from the poison cloud cause status ailments? I.E. if I have fire damage on my weapon, could the cloud ignite enemies?
- Do auras, like Hatred, add damage to the degen effect?

- maybe, but can't answer this.
- DoT IS a status effect. the cloud cannot cause burn as a DoT cannot cause another... but far more importantly, it is chaos damage not fire. fire damage is what causes burning/ignite... but its already a DoT so... again no.
- hatred works on physical damage. even if auras worked on DoT... the cloud is chaos damage... so no.
Please clarify these few question considering changes in 1.0.2. (I guess last three points stay unchanged but I need confirmation).

1. Do Point Blank, Chin Sol, Concentrated Effect, Trap, Remote mine affect DoT value?

2. If augmented wih trap/mine support, do trap/mine damage increase mods affect DoT value?

3. Can be DoT be augumented with added cold/lightning/chaos damage supports?

4. Can one leech from DoT by adding life/manaleech supports after 1.0.2?

5. Can Reduced duration support increase dps output by DoT by making ticks more frequent or it just reduces the time the poison stays on the field?

6. Does Vulnerability buffs 40% MORE now or it stacks linearly with other damage mods?
